I’m not complaining. Just stating my experience. First it’s in the middle of nowhere. It’s is not air conditioned. It was pretty stuffy in there. The food was ok. It was like something your grandma would fix which was ok. Food was served from the buffet in a Tupperware dish. Which I thought was odd being a restaurant. The price of $16 was pretty steep for the food and atmosphere.
We drove an hour and a half to get to this place, and it absolutely did not disappoint. The food taste like home, and if you don't know what that means I'm sorry your life has sucked. The service and atmosphere are like Grandma's house on Sunday afternoon. Live band and some dancing set in an old barn with the backdrop of a beautiful property.
Nice people! I didn't get any food pictures but everything was awesome very back yard bbq sit at the picnic table type food and style. They had very tasty slaw, country style baked beans, pickles, potato chips, buns, pulled pork, pulled beef, and fall off the bone chicken. They had 2 types of sauces they said the red sauce was spicy but it was just right and so amazing I could drink it! It was all Delicious!! I forgot to get pictures but I did get videos of the incredible band and atmosphere! Everyone was so nice to everyone!! they were all were very nice to my wife and one month old who was a little cranky.
Sims is an experience everyone needs to try at least once. Really good people and food. There's no way to go to Sims and not have have a good time.
Old family recipes don’t always equal good & tasty food. They advertise ‘all you can eat’ however… the ‘all you can eat means you go through the line once, and if there’s food left (which tonight there wasn’t, they ran out of chicken) you wait in an even longer line for ‘seconds’. We did not get our $16 a person plates worth. It’s served in a somewhat buffet style, bit it’s very limited selection. There was coleslaw, chips, fried cornbread, and three choices of meat. The line was long, you go in pay, & stand in line for 30+ minutes before you ever sit. Then it’s a find your own table & if your not local, your getting a cold table, on the outer edges of this kind of scary, old chicken barn. It’s not even like it’s made in an ‘old style’ barn, it’s genuinely an OLD, barn. Windows are just screens with plastic over them. I was so cold that the poor tasting food made for a reasonable distraction. The three stars was for the live music! Base, fiddles, guitar, wooden spoons & good singers. That made this very strange venue better. The band leads kids and adults in dances. The little kids were supervised & lead in a square dance that left the dance floor & weaved through the place, followed by an adult square dance procession. You can tell this is a local hangout. Last, Along side the main building, there sits a unique wood wheedling shop with small items. That’s worth a look inside. We made a small purchase before we left. Bottom line, if you want a uniquely local experience-this place will provide that. The food is meh, wear a jacket, cowboys boots are preferred, and go ready to take in some authentically foothills music & dance!
