*Update - After posting this review the store owner contacted me and provided the dress. My veil had to be mailed to my destination wedding’s location, but I did receive the items I purchased.* If I could give negative stars I would. This shop sold me a dress in February for my September wedding. They said it would be ready for alterations early to mid August. It is almost the 1st of September and I can not get anyone to call me back and speak to me directly. They left me one message after I sent countless emails and texts, assuring me my dress would be in on time, arriving the following week, and I would have a 2 week turnaround time for in house alterations. That was a week and a half ago. After numerous attempts to reach someone by phone and having left messages on all available lines (their LA store’s mailbox is full), I received a text yesterday, after my fiancé called, saying that they were dealing with a dress stain and apologized for missing my call. What? They then said they would have the designer reach out and ship the dress directly to me. That wasn’t part of the agreement - I am being told I am now responsible for finding my own tailor. My assumption from this statement is that the dress hasn’t been shipped yet when I was told it had. I responded immediately and have not heard back. I haven’t heard from the designer. I guess I’m out $2,5000 and have to find a new dress and get alterations 2 1/2 weeks out? If I needed to find my own tailor, why couldn’t I have had my dress in February, March, April, May…? Do not go to this store. They will rip you off.
One of my closest friends and I found her dream dress in September 2022, she paid cash for it and was told it would be ready with alterations in 9 months. Fast forward to summer of 2023… no dress and store closed down. They have been fight with the owner Karla to get the cash back as her dress won’t be ready for her Nov. 2023 Wedding. Today, the bride had to go buy a new dress in a panic… and Karla kept her cash and never gave her a dress. Karla is a damn Snake!
Please do not shop here. The owner, Karla, has been extremely difficult and almost impossible to communicate with and has caused so much unnecessary stress and anxiety because I haven't been able to get confirmation my dress was ever ordered or when it would arrive. I ordered my dress in December 2022 and was recently told (after many texts, calls, DMs and voicemails) that there were "delays" with my dress, but confirmed with other bridal shops that is definitely NOT the case and if I ordered through them I'd be able to get my dress within 2 or so weeks! With my wedding in 2 months and still very limited contact with Karla and noticing the store in LA has completely shut down, I had to take the matter into my own hands and contact Justin Alexander to get a hold of my dress because I lost all faith and hope (especially after reading these other reviews) that I would ever get my dress or even get my alterations done with Karla. It's really a shame because the dress buying process with Karla was actually quite wonderful, but the process there on out to get my dress and confirm an alterations appt has been a nightmare. Karla, if you read this, honest communication from you would have made everything easier and better for you. Even if the company was going through hardships, the lack of transparency with the status of our bridal gowns is inexcusable and very unprofessional.
DO NOT TRUST KARLA THE OWNER!! I went to the Sacramento shop March 2022. The experience there was nice, however; I was told my dress would come in June or July 2023. That was fine, my wedding is November 2023. The terrible part happened when in late June 2023 I received a call saying the Sacramento shop was closing but assuring me i would still get my dress delivered. I asked if there was a timelines, because my dress should have already been delivered or be delivered soon per their information. That is where the runaround began, at first no one could even find information on my dress (that I paid cash in full for!). That is when my Fiance called and was passed to the owner Karla. She made promises and promises and finally said my dress wouldn't be in until September 2023! When I asked why it takes a year and a half to get a dress, first she tried to blame Raven the sales associate who helped me. She said that Raven gave me the wrong time that the dress couldn't possibly be done by June/July 2023, when she was again confronted with why it takes over a year, she had no answer. She finally promised (we have it in an email) that we would have the dress between Sept. 13 - 20th and that the "VP of sales" for the designer is handling my dress. September 20th came and went with not even shipping information. We tried to contact, voice-mail is full and won't answer our emails. I'm done, I want my money back and she is ghosting.
I had my wedding in June this past year and went to SO many bridal shops. I was starting to become frustrated after trying on so many wedding dresses. Onyx bridal was the last bridal shop I visited and not only did they have a selection but they made me feel so comfortable. The moment we got there, Carla asked what kind of music I wanted while trying on dresses. None of the other bridal shops asked this. Of course, I found my wedding dress there and they worked with me with making it even more beautiful. Salpi, the alterations person spent days working on adding crystals to my dress. She went above and beyond and hand sewn the crystals to ensure they stayed on the whole evening. Salpi was very kind and sweet. I enjoyed working with Onyx Bridal.
