I had to go to them to remove my wisdom teeth. Everyone there was so nice! My dentist office forgot to send over my X-rays the day of my consultation and the receptionists were on it right away to have them before my appointment. I was nervous the whole time the day I got them out, and would start shaking, and they were so kind and patient with me. The dentist would explain everything that was going on, and what I would be feeling every step of the way. Absolutely loved them!!
Healthcare as an industry in Lynchburg Virginia has to do better and Mountainview OSIC is no exception. My husband and I have had a horrible experience with this practice and I don't recommend anyone who expects any level of professionalism or patient care come here. We were referred here by Aspen Dental (another failing pillar of dental care in LYH) due to my husband needing general anesthesia for his procedure that Aspen couldn't provide. We came in for the consult around April 2023 and our first visit wasn't horrible. The receptionist was quite short with us and seemed as though she was doing us a favor by checking us in, however the rest of the visit went fine. Once we finished, we needed to know how much we'd actually have to pay out of pocket with insurance as you have to pay half the money to schedule the appointment and then the other half the day of the procedure. They received the estimates from the insurance within the same week but never reached out, they didn't follow-up at all and months went by before I finally called. It's Sept 2023 and we had gotten busy so I called just to see if we would need to come back in because the consult findings are only good for six months. I was told that we wouldn't need to come back in and we could schedule surgery as planned but I inquired as to the out of pocket cost because it was a bit high and I was given the information to their billing department. I called the billing department and spoke with Sheri or Sheryl, she sent me the insurance estimate and it turns out we would end up owing even more out of pocket. It's not her fault that the estimate ended up being more but her attitude towards me having questions, and lack of listening to our concerns most certainly is. The insurance company had denied part of the claim due to my husband's case not meeting the criteria for it to be a need. She stated we could file an appeal, and I specifically asked if we should come back in for new tests and additional lab notes to stress the need for the surgery and my husband's current dental status. She said no, that she would just submit the doctor's notes and X-rays from the consult. Oct 2023 and again the office never followed up, but I called the insurance company to get answers and the appeal was denied, verbatim: "the supporting documentation received does not indicate sufficient periodontal disease," which it doesn't take a professional to know he does have a severe case but because no one cares, there's no cross communication between the doctors and billing team, our case fell through the cracks. Ultimately, we're getting supplemental insurance to make sure we only have minimal out of pocket expenses, but the fact that we had to go through this process is so indicative of healthcare as a whole in Lynchburg. We have a world class primary care team that treats us excellent, works to keep our costs low, and is readily available when we need them. We will never accept such subpar treatment from any medical professionals because we know what good patient care looks like. Newsflash Moutainview OSIC, patient care starts from the consult and involves every facet of the patient experience. There's a trend with past negative experiences that the staff is not compassionate and the experience/work is sub-par. Some people who wrote positive things are praising them for just doing their job. If you've never received excellent care then you will praise the bare minimum. You deserve better!
I had all my teeth removed. I was numb the entire time. Staff is friendly and courteous. I would recommend Mountain view oral surgery.
I had to have oral surgery to correct some issues. Dr. Magid was very gentle and professional, which seems to be a rare commodity these days. His assistant was wonderful and on point. All staff were pleasant and respectful.
Great friendly staff, easy to work with and Dr. Maggid is one of the best. This is my second trip back in about 2 years and if needed again would not hesitate. These folks are top of the line.
