Wcfm has been helping me and my family for quiet sometime. Dolly who is the coordinator i s very accommodating and Angel the food.manager is also very friendly . I would recommend this place to others who can use their help. You don't need to go call social services just call their office.
Used to donate to WFCM regularly years ago. Since found County Social Services does not screen people requesting food well enough, but some people are liars asking for aid. Quite true for the ethnic group that receives the majority of assistance per WFCM's annual report. Free food they get so they can spend their money instead terrorizing the local neighborhoods they live in with loud music and parties with rented equipment and other excesses. I have seen this first hand. Some food for thought for donors. We are not called fron Above to fund evil.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ASKING ANYONE WHO WORKS HERE FOR FINANCIAL HELP. THE PEOPLE WHO WORK HERE WILL MAKE YOU “THINK” THAT THEY WILL HELP YOU BUT THAT IS A LIE. THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO PREVENT YOU FROM GETTING THE FINANCIAL HELP THAT YOU NEED. THEY ARE NOT TRUSTWORTHY PEOPLE. IF YOU WANT FINANCIAL HELP GO ELSEWHERE. YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING FINANCIAL HELP ELSEWHERE ARE WAY BETTER THAN GETTING IT FROM WESTERN FAIRFAX CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES.
This is the only food bank that I HAVE EVER been to where they offer fresh or semi fresh fruits and veggies, along with dairy (eggs, milk, cheese, butter), things like chicken, beef, turkey, and a variety of other things that you would not necessarily find at an traditional food bank. Most of their donated items are from places like Wegmans and Whole Foods. Please don't confuse this with complaing, because I am GRATEFUL to all food banks, when you are hungry and can't afford food, then you will take what you can get. However, this does give you options as you are allowed to "shop" and pick out your own items, as opposed to having them to pack one for you. This prevents food from being wasted. Again, I am grateful to ALL food banks, but this is by far the best one I have encountered. And based on your income, you are allowed to go every month!
I had requested financial assistance through them and the lady I spoke with Andrea had said “ I will call the complex and put the pledge in and have the check written for $600” days later she calls me and says the supervisor sees no crisis when I have an eviction notice AND proof I do not currently receive any income , I rent a room from my sister and due to my loss of employment I was unable to cover my portion. I go as far as to speak with the EXECUTIVE and she pretty much shoos me away and says she can’t help me even though the person I spoke with had already stated they would. For this place to be a place of worship and a place of god they sure don’t act like it. I would never step foot in a church where people who work there treat people like this.
