Apparently asking questions about their mistakes is arguing. I was refused service because the owner was disrespectful to me after I asked questions about unclear information. I was also on an imaginary wait list for 3 years, they took me off of with no explanation. I was told I’m partially at fault for that, when they apparently have none. I was called names by the owner and she attempted to play it off as a joke when I told her it hurt my feelings. Then I was hung up on a refused to be put on this “list”
This office is a VASAP approved counseling center, so court ordered VASAP participants are required to attend counseling sessions here under certain criteria. I would assume that the guaranteed cash flow from mandated participation by VASAP clients gets the most attention judging by the previous reviews about responsiveness. A friend of mine was ordered to complete counseling here by VASAP, which she did...for 22 weeks. They told her that in order to do any group sessions, she would have to discontinue taking all of her other, doctor prescribed medication. The rationale was that it might affect other group counseling members (um what?). That is wholly irresponsible and if anyone has experienced that as well with this office, I strongly suggest you speak with an attorney about a lawsuit. In my opinion, any therapist who works with VASAP is not in the business to actually help people, but to capitalize on mandated medical care by the courts and the 100 percent client funded state agency, the Commission on VASAP.
I have had therapists over the years with much success and am a positive person that has succeeded in my therapies. I would not be concerned if one thing had occurred, but multiple things occurred over time. My partner needed therapy. He emailed and got no reply. He made several phone calls and got no return call. Mind you our counselor suggested Lighthouse so we considered it reputable. My partner called again. He finally got a call back and did an intake that included all his personal information including billing. He was told that 'if' there was a therapist available they would call back (?) Not, we will get back to you regardless with an update (?) Well, he finally got a session scheduled. He waited by his phone for 30 minutes and got not NO call. There are very few reviews about this organization here. I hope my sharing this experience as a pretty balanced person is helpful. I would suggest that you reach out elsewhere - especially if you have PTSD or serious issues and you thought you would start in a safe way. Always take care of yourself. If you feel in danger - reach out to friends, family, your faith, a therapist - and be honest - you are worth your life. Call 911 if you need to. I've lost friends. Your friends and family and the world deserve you. Hugs to all.
The groups and the therapists (even if at first believe they aren't worth your time) are absolutely amazing!!! Katie Fields is the best therapist i have ever had. Katie and Kylie facilitate the DBT groups and without the DBT skills i learned i would have never been able to stay sober (after years of constant relapse). I also was in Danielle's Thursday night S.A. group was also extremely helpful in my journey in sobriety. Every therapist has different approaches, but every single one of them will never give-up on you even when you want to give-up on yourself. Long story short i LOVE Lighthouse Counseling and would recommend it to anyone!!!
Carmen is amazing and really cares about her clients reaching their "life worth living" goals. I spent over 15 yrs of (at the time 21yr old) my life in and out of therapy. She's the only one who truly helped me make any true progress. Wish I had found her sooner.
