No Shade @ All. This wasn’t for me. My family is from NC so what I expect from souls food may be different. Also I know when you cook for large groups things change a little. My Review: First time I cam here I walked in, the man yelled from behind the counter “We don’t have anything left” My Wife & I walked right out and the person who was walking in with us walked out too. That was my first day in Meriden as a resident lol. 😇Moving on to our recent visit. This place seems to get business so I wanted to check it out. I didn’t enjoy the food. ⭐️Soul food Rolls: The roll was a little more chewy than I would have liked. The Mac & cheese wasn’t tasty to me. However the yams in there were excellent. You get two very large rolls which is a meal in and of itself. ⭐️ Fish Dinner: 3 small prices of fish which was adequate size and two sides. My side were Mac & cheese & sweet potato fries. Sweet potato fries were good, as you know I didn’t like the Mac & cheese. I think it was suppose to be like a 3 cheese blend. 2 pieces of the fish were over cooked however the third was perfect. I have no clue how that happened. The fish was seasoned well, that’s a plus and the drink I had was great. I think it was a sweet tea. Here is the silver lining. My wife liked the food and she had the same thing. She actually finished my soul food roll. 🤷🏾♂️ I’d say you have to try if for yourself. This was just my personal review.
Customer service was amazing young man was so dope friendly and was rocking running the store by him self… now my honest review portions first they were definitely great I will say, you get your money worth however I got two pork chop meals plus two additional sides and the pork chops were salty cabbage was way to sweet collard greens to salty Mac and cheese was good the candied yams were amazing…. The restaurant was clean food was nice and hot and I will definitely go back and give them another try… but that young man was simply amazing great employee who loves his job and I respect that!
Food was amazing. My picky 9 year old even loved it!! Will definitely be our new favorite place when in Meriden.
Second time eating from this place and it won’t be the last!!! Greens and cabbage seasoned with smoked turkey is hard to find!! Cornbread is the fluffiest, Mac&cheese is nice and cheesy, and the fish sandwich is crispy and well seasoned. Will be returning soon for something else on the menu!! By the way it’s Black Owned👏🏿👏🏿
Mac and cheese was dry and old greens to salty , yams tasted store bought and the chicken lol you only get two and it was bland. I took a bite of each and didn’t eat any more! I’ll stick to new Haven soul food this was the worst!! Now the owner is mad!!!! I said I’m not about complaining about black own businesses I support them! Look at that food it’s really trash and no i wouldn’t have came back there to get more trash!!!
