Beautiful , clean restaurant. Great fresh made food, friendly staff. Many menu choices to choose from. Able to sit in the Restaurant if you choose. Soothing music and nice atmosphere. Good location and plenty of parking.
I arrived around 1:15 initially I wanted to order turkeys wings. The lady at the counter asked one of the cooks if they had any ready yet and he rudely answered her using profanity smh unprofessional. I was told they wouldn’t be ready until 2 so I placed a order and paid for it with pick up time 2:15. I got there at 2:15 and my order was not ready so I decided to order a additional side which was collard greens with smoked Turkey. After I paid I was told there was no more strings beans which I ordered with my platter so atp I’m getting annoyed because I just paid for something that could’ve been swapped out still no big deal waited an additional 20 min food finally came. Once I made it home I noticed I had no smoked Turkey in my greens and had to go back just to get more greens and I ended up paying for a side of cabbage. Workers at like they have a attitude because of their mistake and I heard nothing but good things but I’m very dissatisfied and disappointed *UPDATE* The food was pretty decent just a little salt and pepper in the Mac & some vinegar and hot sauce in the greens and it was better. The turkey wings was 8/10 seasoned pretty well just wish for more rice. After all the back and forth I just wish I was treated more fairly and. The lady taking orders was very apologetic about the situation she was more frustrated for me lol very nice! But hopefully I will try again and see if I receive a better experience because I support black own to the fullest and today might of been a bad day for them if I can forgive another business that make mistakes and continue to patronize their business then I can for black own as well!!
This place is awesome! We drove from DC for an event and looked at the reviews and they were great. I met Aunt Vonda and her husband (Acey) and they, both, were phenomenal. The hospitality was everything!! The food was super fresh and seasoned well. Thanks, Aunt Vonda.
Got 2 platters of wings , cabbage and cinnamon sweet potatoes. Cabbage was ON POINT! Cornbread nice and moist great bite. Wings color and texture was perfect along with good looking white meat . For sure fresh!! For my pallet could have used a little more seasoning but that's my pallet and the sweet potatoes were too sweet for me but it was cinnamon sweet potatoes says in the name so. But other then that hats off to them. The smell of the food reminds you of the culture
I hate to put my true review of the food because this is such a great establishment. Hopefully, they will read this and know it's constructive advice. This was MY experience, which was my first experience. My food on Sunday, Sept. 17th was 4 wings with mac&cheese, cinnamon sweet potatoes, and a side of collard greens & seafood rice. I would have loved if they had cooked the chicken longer and drained it. My chicken was undercooked and very greasy, which took the crunch away. The mac&cheese was on the dry side, and the collards were crunchy. The sweet potatoes were not for me. They had the consistency of can potatoes. Lastly, I also had seafood rice, and the rice was overcooked. The overall taste was below average for me. I would have addressed this with them, but an incident happened with someone, and we ended up leaving.
