I relocated from NY a few months before my wedding and needed to find an alterations expert. Several bridal salons recommended Cheryl Lofton & Associates. I'm so happy I chose them. The entire staff is so friendly too. Ali was my tailor and I'd recommend him again in a heartbeat. My dress needed quite a few alterations which required Ali to remove and re-sew by hand the delicate lace and flowers. Also, I wanted the straps to sit a certain way and Ali told me I could have it that way, but that it would be a mistake - he showed how it would change the look of the back of my dress. He instead recommended a workaround that was genius. Ali also added an internal belt to further improve the fit and add support - such a great idea. In the end, my dress fit perfectly - no gaps or awkward angles. I was so happy and felt beautiful and comfortable in my dress. Ali is a true master of his trade. Thank you, Ali!!
The alterations were done really well! They were able to get me in quickly, and get the alterations done within a week. Which I really appreciated! But it was very expensive! To alter the shoulders of my dress, making the neckline wider by only about an inch, was almost $400! And if I had done what wanted and shortened the sleeves, it would have been an extra $65. Maybe that's on me and you can bargain them down... but it seemed like a lot of money for very minor alterations.
Cheryl Lofton & Associates did a phenomenal job tailoring my wedding dress. My dress was heavy and had a lot of beading, so it was complicated to alter. Gale was incredibly patient and showed me multiple different bustles before we landed on the French bustle, which she helpfully put as low on the dress as possible so the weight of the dress wouldn’t be painful. I’m so thrilled with how it turned out and wholeheartedly recommend Cheryl Lofton & Associates for tailoring services!
I highly recommend the legendary Cheryl Lofton & Tailoring services located at 719 T Street, NW, Washington DC. My clients report back to me with great confidence & satisfaction! This is a legendary black owned family tailoring business in the heart of Washington DC! I'm a Client Advisor at Hugo Boss Retail, Inc. (City Center) in Washington DC. Unfortunately, Hugo Boss doesn't have an in-store tailor any more.
Did not have the greatest experience here. I went earlier this year to show them my dress and see how much it would cost to get this dress altered. I was told $175. I said great and that I would come back when I had the shoes bought as well. When I came back to try on the dress with the shoes and get the alterations, they decided to change the price on me and tell me the alterations were $300. They reported there was no documentation or recollection of this dress being $175 initially. On top of that, they also don't tell you it costs $$ to even just try on the dress even if you don't want to move forward with the alterations. So make sure you are ready to commit if you decide to try on the dress there! I do not appreciate the unprofessionalism I received from this place.
