Squire and Liz specifically have been invaluable to me. They are responsive, knowledgeable, and found great tenants. Moreover, my tenants have only said positive things about working with them which is exactly what I was hoping for. I hadn't planned to rent out my condo, but with frequent deployments, I'm relieved it's in safe hands.
Squire has helped manage my property in DC for over two years and they have done a great job so far and been responsive to my needs and tenant needs. Elizabeth provides great support and is available on email, phone and whatsapp on short notice. Thanks for the great service!
My experience with Squire started off well, to the point I was used as a reference, but as the years went by got increasingly worse. The latest manager on the account, Liz, was unprofessional, unresponsive, and said she was in communication with the tenant and myself when she wasn’t. When moving in a new tenant Squire did not have the paperwork needed for the condo, the tenant was surprised with a unit that was not cleaned, and she had several repair issues that were not addressed despite her multiple attempts to reach out. When terminating the contract due to performance I found Squire had not renewed my business rental license as expected and when trying to discuss their poor performance, I was told I wasn’t telling the truth. If myself or the tenant had received follow up communication, why would I continue to reach out via email, text, and phone asking for updates? It’s nonsensical. I have 8 rental properties and this has been the worse management company by far.
My rental property in Kalorama has been managed by Squire for just under 6 months now. I’m typically not the type to leave Google reviews unless I have an excellent (or terrible) experience. However, my relationship with Squire since February has been exemplar. Not only have they responded to my tenants on a timely basis, but they’ve fixed any issue (i.e. a recent unexpected gas leak) in a professional manner and with great care. Squire has also gone above and beyond with respect to logistical measure such as my business license renewal/the inspection that came with it. Having one point of contact (Liz) has made it very simple whenever I reach out for anything and Liz has been overly communicative, something I’ve loved about working with a smaller property management company. Overall, I can’t speak highly enough of Squire’s cut-and-dry fee structure and management procedures- it would be a mistake as an owner to not work with Squire.
We’ve had our condo in Logan circle under Squire DC’s management since the end of 2018. We are now in our second lease with another set of great tenants placed by Elizabeth, our assigned property manager. She’s quick to respond, minor and major repairs are handled right away, and with everything that changed for rentals in DC during the pandemic we have had no stress knowing Squire is handling everything. Our tenants seem to be happy as well. As landlords, we have high praises for the team at Squire and appreciate their emphasis on communication!
