It's hard to put in words how special this place is. We decided to elope and as soon as we ran across the website for Shadow Mountain we knew this was where we wanted to get married. Karen and Ralph are such special people and made our day relaxed amazing and unforgettable. We will be back soon this is our new favorite place on Earth. If you're reading this review don't look any farther and just book a cabin and an elopement package and you'll be happier than you can ever imagine.

Me and my Husband stayed here two nights on our honeymoon road-trip. We stayed in the beautiful Bumblebee Cabin. Ralph was the first to welcome us and inform us of all of our amenities. He and Karen truly have a passion for curating a wonderful guest experience. From the crafted timber frame cabins to the delicious pastries and unique European decor. The property was beautiful and well maintained. The self guided nature trail highlighted the history of the property and had some neat information about the local flora and fauna. Overall we had an amazing experience and hope to come back again!

We eloped the day after arriving. Karen was absolutely amazing. She prepared the best wedding day I could imagine. This place is absolutely stunning and very unique. Karen and Ralph are delightful, helpful and very personable. We had pastries each day prepared multiple times that Karen handmade and delivered to us. There is so much history here, and so many unique places to see. We will definitely be returning

Absolutely our favorite place to spend a weekend or longer. Karen and Ralph are absolutely the best! You’re right at the edge of the Shenandoah National Park. The cabins are spectacular! Do yourself a favor and plan a visit. You will not be disappointed.

If you are thinking of eloping, do it! And do it here- trust me! We had the most peaceful, lovely, stress-free day in a place that felt like a secret other world. Karen was *amazing* and brought a super-extra vibe of positivity and love to our wedding- not only the day of, but also in every communication ahead of time. I think she was almost more excited about us getting married than we were! We stayed in the Butterfly cabin, which was just beautiful. The timber frame construction, the decor and the absolute peace and quiet were all exquisite. We were able to spend time together the night before and day of the ceremony, bonding and talking about the future…not being stressed and worrying about the minutia of the usual chaotic wedding thing with tons of people involved. If that’s your thing, ok….but to start our official life together in such a calm, peaceful, reflective way, focused on each other in pastoral solitude was absolutely priceless. And the grounds! The stream, the nature trail, the pond- it’s truly like stepping into your own private paradise. If you do want to leave, there is plenty to do nearby- and Karen and Ralph give you a TON of info about it. The warmth of both of them and the surroundings they’ve created (the nature and the man-made) are incomparable. It’s a truly special place that we can’t wait to return to in the future. Eloping or just staying- you will not regret it. I can also see this as being an incredible solo retreat to get away and unplug, maybe write or something. Also- Karen is a wonderful wedding photographer and her baked goods are to die for! It is everything you see on their wonderful website, but even better in person. Elope! Your mom will get over it…
