I had a wash, trim and 2 strand twist done for my natural hair with Mahogony. I think they will “do” natural hair but they don’t really “care” for natural hair or specialize in doing so. She detangled from the root to ends (as opposed to ends to root) during the washing phase. Usually, detangling is done during the conditioning stage. I could literally hear my hair ripping. She also at one point was combing my hair with a fine tooth comb with no product for slippage. I have coily textured hair so that is not what I have ever been accustomed to. But I knew she would use foam and typically product with the foam doesn’t mesh well. So, I understood that. I just didn’t understand why my hair wasn’t detangled with the conditioner in. She trimmed as she went in rows but didn’t really trim in a way that preserved or added to the “shape” that my hair was already cut in (tapered cut but grown out to chin/shoulder length). She literally just trimmed it but now I’ll have to find another place to go to for shaping because the cut is very uneven and lacks shape. Typically, when I have my hair trimmed, they trim in rows and then go back to ensure there is a nice shape to the trim they did. The two stars are because everyone was kind and the place was very welcoming. I heard the owner complimenting some women and I could tell that her heart was to really serve them and boost their confidence, etc. Mahogany’s service was REALLY quick. And the twists were VERY neat, pretty, and uniform. I can tell that this may be a specialty of hers. In her suite, I saw signs about locs, etc. so I think she would do a phenomenal job if you have locs. Give them a try for things you see on their social accounts (braids, short natural hair that you wear straight, permed hair and coloring, for instance). Pricing is fair, in my opinion.
Michelle styled my hair beautifully and exactly how I wanted it. She kept good conversation and was very friendly. I would definitely come back :)
This was my first time at this Salon. I called about a walk in for a silk press and Michaela did my hair. I was so relaxed throughout the whole process , she had great conversation, and my hair looks and feels amazing. Will deffinitley come back.
