Loved my experience. I have loose curls and in my experience, people presume to be experts alarmingly fast or don’t care about interrogating my texture because they rely on pulling it apart. Like others, I was drawn to Griyn Thumb because I love the messaging—their commitment to the health and wellness of hair, their transparency and forthcoming attitudes. I think there’s something special about people who know their craft extremely well and don’t advertise as jacks of all trades for profit. The salon is conveniently located on Candler Rd. It’s a bright and open space that feels neighborly. (1) My consultation was thorough and light hearted. I appreciated the acknowledgement of how personal and emotional hair care can be. My hair was (2) detangled, washed and cut, and then (3) styled. (Technically three stages of service, I’d bear that in mind for pricing.) No excessive scratching of my scalp, no blow out for the cut, no pain corn rows!!!! 10/10
This place specializes in natural hair care and styling. I got my Locs retwisted and scalp cleanse by Henny. I appreciate the care and attentive I received for my hair and scalp. She did a very detailed job of cleansing my scalp and shampooing my hair. The energy and vibes in the place is chill and loving with moments of playfulness and banter with those in the space. It’s conveniently located for me and that is important to me. It’s situated in a shopping plaza that tends to be busy due to a medical center in same plaza but finding parking was easy enough. I love the neatness of my hair and I look forward to going back.
First time client and I saw Narada. I've been looking for a stylist who actually talks to their clients and explains the process of how to obtain and maintain healthy hair. I finally found one! This entire session from the decor of the salon to my consultation and styling was superb! When he washed and styled my hair he was so gentle. No rough hands with this stylist! I would highly recommend and I will definitely be coming back. Thank you again Narada!
I went to the salon on August 1st. I traveled from Tennessee and I had the best experience. The stylist was a extremely knowledgeable and handled the hair on my head with such care and gentleness. Super professional, he answered all my questions and concerns. Then told me to see him next year.😮😊 Amazing! I usually get a hair cut when I go to the stylist even though I’ve been trying to grow my hair since I’ve been natural. He told me no shears to my hair for a year. He stressed that most stylists do preventive cuts which is like taking cold medicine when you don’t have cold. Wow! He is respectful of your time as I was in and out. You’re not going to be packed in there like sardines. I do have short hair but I think spaces people out. He listens to your concerns. The information I got on how to care for my hair is priceless. He is reasonably priced. He doesn’t tell you that you need expensive products. He doesn’t sell or offer services that you don’t need. He makes natural care easy to understand and simplistic. After hearing nothing less than good things about the salon and watching a specific beautician who’s skills and expertise has been proven true masterful, my experience at The Griyn Thumb has been synonymous with its name. I hadn’t had a trim by a professional in some years, so I already apprehensive concerning the state of my hair. The salon is located in a plaza, tucked right behind a deli spot, almost like gem hidden in plain sight, as I was soon to find. When walking in, I was greeted with a smile and a welcoming that set most of my anxiety at ease. The salon is spacious, tidy, and filled with artwork complimenting the space. It was like the good ‘ol days: the salon was a safe space for women/men/them to come in and go through the beautifying process of having their hair taken care of while expressing openly what’s on been on the heart and mind. Deep conditioning the hair and the heart. Now, for the process. My stylist was friendly, thorough, and precise. Talked me through the condition of my hair, what needed to be addressed, and the steps to take to keep my hair at its healthiest. My hair was gently taken care of and felt beautiful and light afterwards. After a shampoo, condition, blowout, trim and style, I walked out the salon feeling almost like a new woman. My braids do not feel tight and I see no signs of a tight scalp (no Advil or any headache medicine for me ;). My overall experience is five stars and I will definitely be continuing service with them as I take my journey towards maintaining healthy hair.
