Absolutely love Kay, great stylist BUT this last experience we had was not the best. There was a stylist there who looked at my daughter and said “what did I say..” in a stern voice while she was in Kay’s chair and my daughter wasn’t saying anything. I wish I knew before we left (as I was in the car waiting) because I would have addressed that right then and there but my daughter was scared to say anything to me while at the salon when I picked her up. Additional feedback I have … When we arrived at the salon, Kay was in the chair getting her braids taken down. Rather than stopping and taking us as her clients, she sat there continued to get her braids taken down and asked another stylist to wash my daughters hair in which my daughter’s hair had to be washed again because the stylist who washed her hair did a half a** job. Outside of the incidences that I’ve documented in this post, I really did love the way my daughters hair came out, but the customer service and professionalism was subpar; young black women, we have to do better.
I booked an appointment for my daughter after my mother-in-law suggested I try them out. I am so happy I did. My daughter is two and does not like getting her hair done even though this is a regular part of our routine. I never spend more than 30 minutes on a style because she tends to fight me. But she sat still for Roshunda 2 hours! She loved her hair! she had cornrows, with pig tails and beads. It was beautiful! She got her hair done on July 3rd. Today is August 6th and we are just now taking them down. The style lasted a month! I'm impressed! Highly recommend this place and we will be returning soon!
I have been here a few times before but with decent service. The morning of my appointment my daughter got sick and I tried to call and email them to see if I could reschedule. No response to my email and five phone call attempts later someone finally picked up. I explained to them that I still wanted a hair appointment but I didn’t think that bringing my daughter in that day was prudent. The lady on the phone said that I would lose my deposit for the day if I didn’t bring her, no exceptions. She did not have the ability to refund my deposit or put it towards another appointment because it was machine automated. So I medicated my masked child and took her to her appointment. The medium size braids were did not look professional AT ALL. Medium sized braids doesn’t have to mean medium sized parts but that’s what they were serving. The braids themselves were stiff and all different sizes. As a previously regular customer I am truly disappointed.
This is a great salon catered to kids. They do both natural hair and extensions. They staff are professional and fun, keeping the kids occupied with kid appropriate music or movies. Very cutely decorated inside giving your princess a high end salon experience. At the end of the service my daughter is able to choose a princess bow of her choice. Very flexible times and available on the weekend. I also add a “take-down” service due to my busy schedule and what a relief. We were lucky enough to come across this salon at the end of summer and have been coming every few weeks since.
My daughter and I Love this Kids salon. She is always ready for her appointment each month and so excited to pick out her hairstyles. They also do great work for Mother and Daughter appointments! Thank you to all the ladies at the salon. Black Girl Magic at its Best!!
