Take a moment to appreciate this MADE TO ORDER soul food plate. This food isn’t sitting on a buffet or heat lamp drying out. This is made to order so you will have to wait a bit. Fantastic. If your looking for soul food, skip the tourist traps and get the real deal. I will definitely be back.
Great food! We took our food to go and food was still hot when we got back home. All food is cooked to order. We ordered the fish & shrimp, smothered pork chop. It was all amazing! Will visit again when in the area!
To start the Hostess in the front was super nice very welcoming and soft spoken. I found this place while in the area and just hungry honestly. I Read some reviews and seemed to be a neighborhood “go to” so I gave it a shot . Ordered the Fried chicken, sweet corn & green beans the plate itself also came with cornbread and some rice & gravy underneath also a side of shrimp just to try them out. Ok now Hear me out.. for the positives the presentation for a to go box is 5 star I wanted to eat all of it just looking at it. The chicken was cooked perfect juicy full of flavor and had the perfect crisp on the skin for that one reason I’d go give it another shot .. now moving onto the rest the cornbread was almost on point a little dry for me but nothing crazy overall was pretty solid. For the shrimp they looked amazing were perfectly breaded and cooked but somehow lacked flavor almost no seasoning on the breading I’m not sure how that happened but it did bummed me out there cause they looked fire. As for the rest of the plate honestly the corn was watered down and the green beans were soggy as if they both came from a can and to no offense the rice under was like that fat grain old people rice without flavor I would’ve chosen the Mac but they were sold out when I got there so maybe that’s a hit and I just missed on the sides . Overall in my opinion for my experience it was ok
Got the smothered pork chop and the fried chicken. Both were excellent. The fried chicken was succulent with a light coating, which we prefer to what we usually get when getting fried chicken at other places. Good choices of tasty sides, too. Reasonably priced.
Must try! The food was not only authentic to taste but also made from scratch and all the love. We came as a school tour group and they opened their doors to us on their day off. Chef Taylor and Chef Curtis, an amazing duo honoring the Gullah culture, people, and their loved ones. It was an honor to be welcomed into their restaurant and I will be forever grateful for their hospitality, kindness, and amazing food!
