I stopped into S&L after work, because I had some time before heading to my next destination. The ambiance was sleek, sexy, and very inviting. It was giving grown and sexy, coupled with good vibes. I was the only customer there, so I sat at the bar. I enjoyed the sweet wine tasting and buffalo chicken flatbread, which both were amazing. I know it was only me, but the customer service was amazing. I LIVE for great customer service, and S&L exceeded my expectations. Go out and support this black business, for I know my friends and I will definitely be back very soon. Keep up the great service and business S&L. I see great things in store for this business!
Went in about 2 weeks ago on a karaoke night with my girlfriend. Walked in nobody said anything they only stared at us like we didn’t belong . Nobody was at the bar when we arrived so we waited. The First lady came and out and she talked to 2 other ppl for 20 minutes or so before even acknowledging us . We sat for about 45 minutes before we even got our order taken When she did acknowledge us she was very helpful and friendly. Half of the food menu they were out of . Only had flatbreads available. Some of the wine choices/options were out of stock . I don’t get how you’re open and barely have what you’re advertising. We order one bottle of wine and was charged $45 for a $25 bottle . $10 just to open my bottle . This place is a joke and I’ll never go back nor recommend it to anybody .
I really love this hidden gem. It small and quaint, but big on everything that I love! Good food(the flatbread pizza was delish), Good music, Good entertainment, Good vibes, great looking place & lovely people all the time. The Wednesday night open mic poetry was the bomb! The host and the acts were incredible! Then on Thursday we popped in and saw Ms. Philly! She was amazing!! I only had pineapple juice my first time there. I stepped it up and got the Tom and Cherry! It was really good. Security was super kind as well as the bar tenders(kind and welcoming & plugging the business, inviting us back out to other fun filled nights). We asked security if we could go out the back door and he walked us out AND he made sure we got in our cars! (Tall light skinned brother, such a gallant man).
Me and my friend walked in on an early evening. Owner looks at us, says nothing, turns around to do stuff at his bar. We should have left then because how hard is it to greet your customers? But we sat down and waited 10 minutes, there was only a few women at the bar that had already been served so this was off putting. A lady walks in the door and comes to take our order, by this time me and my friend had made up our mind we weren’t spending any money here because we didn’t feel welcomed. We left to patronize at another nearby wine bar and was greeted at the door. I supported this place at their grand opening brung a few people here, recommended this place in the past and I was about to bring more people here when I learned they were doing Sunday brunches. So it was disappointing and I won’t be coming back. It takes no effort to say “hello” to people that come in to support your business.
It's a nice, intimate, sexy environment, and if you like karaoke, the best day to go is on Friday and their cocktails are good too and the service. I recommend you go there if you just want to step out for a second without all the riff-raff.
