I moved outta state a few years ago, but anytime I go back to Decatur, PT's is on my radar. Always consistent with good portions at a good price point. Best in Class, for Decatur.
Recent visit chicken was cold and bland. Rib tips was also cold; tasted like charcoal fluid. I overlooked how dusty dirty and dingy this place is, thinking maybe because it’s a dive (some dives have great food) sadly mistaken on all fronts. And what’s with the pillows on top of the cooler in the back.
One thing we love to do as southerners is try East and west BBQ. This restaurant is a local BBQ spot located near the downtown area of Decatur, IL. This establishment offers a wide range of BBQ to choose from. On a Sunday after 1 p.m we decided to have the pulled beef sandwich, and beef ribs. Unfortunately, Beef wasn't available so we were accommodated with a replacement of pull pork and ribs. The house sauce on the Que was tasty. Our kids really enjoyed it as well. We plan to come back to try out the beef and sweets! We recommend visiting this establishment when its the busiest. Which we belive would be a Saturday afternoon? Overall this was a great place to exprience. It's local owned and operated! As well as Black Owned*
I didn’t even plan to stop but I seen the smoke coming from the smoker outside lol so I knew it was fresh!! Ordered a small tip. Don’t let the outside fool you that’s typically where the best food comes from. It’s better than the Kansas City BBQ place I had the day before #sorrynotsorry I should have came here instead. I’ll be back during my stay while in Decatur. I was told to try to Mac n cheese and baked beans next time I visit.
randomly stopped in on a trip to decatur and i’m glad i did! PT’s rib tips were absolutely fire, and the pulled pork was smokey and delicious (and 2/$7?? so cheap). the staff was friendly and our food came out quick - and you can’t beat $25 for a full 3 meals. absolutely recommend 🙏🏼
