We enjoyed the staff, food, and establishment Tammi is an excellent host. She had a pleasant and gregarious smile. Zayed was a wonderful food specialist. I appreciated the chef coming out to check on us. The staff was excellent. The portions of food were very filling. The food was well seasoned. π
If you check out my profile, I'm partial to Soul Food. Primarily because it's often heavily processed and cost cutting measures are taken. Which takes the Soul from soul food. Therefore, some food tastes artificial and/or high is salt. Now, let's begin. 1. Fried chicken, well seasoned, and loads of flavor. It's not the best but good. 2. The greens, I want to say they are out of a can because it was very salty and I couldn't taste any smoked meat 3. Mac and Cheese, it was orange-yellow...I don't want Velveeta. I gave that back and asked for dressing. 4. Dressing-no gravy, I. Can't. Stand. Sweet. Dressing. I always get dressing without gravy because I want to taste the actual dressing. Sometimes, people use Gravy to cover up. Also, the reason why their dressing is sweet is because they use jiffy. Although It's nasty its was seasoned well. If the sweetness wasn't there, it would be hard to compete with. 5. YAMS π― whew child, the butter was dripping!! It's just a tad too much sugar. 6. Peach Cobbler π― be warned it's a very large portion. The crust was buttery and held up against the syrup. A tad to much sugar because some of the granules didn't melt all the way. 7. The sweet tea was OK. Against the other items, it was another sweet thing. The water was good as well. Great atmosphere, clean tables, and very welcoming. I'd also like to point out their creativity. They have an Entree with just sides. You select the three items you'd like. I think that is a wonderful option and I have not seen that at other restaurants. I didn't get the cornbread because it's not homemade.. it's jiffy. A lot of soul food restaurants take shortcuts and this was one of the options that they chose to do. Overall, very good.
Great service, big menu and all around great food. Peach Cobbler Chicken and Waffles did not dissappoint. Every component was perfect. Fried Chicken is honestly some of the best I've had... very crispy and super flavorful. Will be back here as soon as I return to Indianapolis, whenever that may be.
I finally was able to visit His Place eatery and all I can say is one word; wow! The food was absolutely delicious and you could really taste the love in the food. The staff was so kind and welcoming, everyone I encountered was extremely friendly. The prices might come across as high to some but it is 100% worth the splurge and worth treating yourself. I will most definitely be returning, eager to taste more delicious food.
We went on Fatherβs Day and was served and completed eating in less than an hour with a party of 6! The food came out hot and delicious! It was hard to choose because everything looked good and everything was good! This is a black owned and operated business that does business well. Officially added to best food spots and we will definitely return when in the area.
