We pulled over because of the sign out front. Home of the Famous Jess’ Hot Dog! I love Hot Dogs 🌭 and we were looking for a quick lunch. So we each had a hot dog with chili. And I got the Cindy Burger - Bacon, Cheese, Peanut Butter and Jelly. I added pickles. The burger was good but there is room for improvement. The ratios of the ingredients specifically. Bacon should be in every bite. Too much jelly as it slipped out on the plate and there was still plenty on the burger and I would slather on more peanut butter to make it more a prominent flavor. The chili dog was average. But a great appetizer. Our waitress disappeared for long periods of time and we had to get up to find her. She seemed to be the only one working the front of house and although the restaurant wasn’t busy there were a lot of milkshakes ordered which takes time. The restaurant was clean although dated in decor.
Needing a quick place to stop for lunch Loray Caverns, we stopped here. I had the bacon cheeseburger with peanut butter and jelly. I was taking a chance and wasn't sure I'd like it. The server said everyone who tries it loves it. She was RIGHT! AMAZING!! Burgers don't come with fries but you can order separately. The onion rings were really good too! Just a small town diner with excellent service and great tasting and great priced food!!
Our serve was super friendly and sweet. She recommended the fried pickles, and I’m glad she did :) We came hungry after our adventure in the Shenandoah. The classic cheeseburger, fried pickles, coleslaw, and onion rings were all awesome. Best cheeseburger I’ve had in awhile! My partner really liked the ‘Gus burger’ as well. They had some fun milkshake flavors, in addition to the classics, so we got one to go. Plenty of seating, easy to find, and well-worth the stop. Definitely would like to visit again when we are out that way.
Small town charm and comfort food! Nice stop when we arrived in town. The French fries were delicious, and they had real Coke! The food was quick and the service was great!
When they say the hot dog is famous..BELIEVE IT! Also, the steak and cheese and onion rings are top notch! Sleeper...the staff were so nice! We will be back and send all our friends.
