BEWARE FOR WEDDING! She baked a cake and mini cupcakes for my daughter’s wedding. The cupcakes were the wrong flavor and the cake fell before she walked down the aisle. As you can see from the photo, there were only two supports holding up the layers. A minimum of three is required. She gave me $20 cash at delivery to make up for the wrong cupcakes. The wedding planner was finally able to reach her after many attempts. Just before the cake cutting she delivered a very plain cake with yellow cake (definitely not what we ordered) from an event for the next day. While I’m glad my daughter and son-in-law had something to cut, it’s not what she had her heart set on and it was very, very stressful. I was shocked when, by Wednesday of the following week, she hadn’t even called to apologize. When I called her and told her that as a small business owner myself, I didn’t understand that. Also asked her to explain why there were only two dowel rods her only response was “I’m not giving you your money back” repeatedly. I had not asked for a refund. I really just wanted an apology to my daughter who was devastated. After her 7th time telling me I wasn’t getting my money back I simply said good luck because what goes around comes around and hung up. Just beware people. She should not be making layered cakes, especially not for a wedding.
My daughter placed an order a month ahead of time for a piano cake. They said they could do it no problem. The day before the party they call my daughter and tell her that they don't think they can make the piano cake and ask her if she has any other cake in mind. (This was a themed party btw) My daughter sends them a couple different options (my daughter is scrambling now because she gave them a month and they call her the day before mind you). She sent them the cake in the first pic and they said they could make it look almost identical but it would have to be one tier. My daughter said that would be fine. I arrive the day of to pick up the cake and saw this monstrosity. I asked the woman why were there flowers, why was the gold spackled on and she was very short with me and informed me that it was 24K gold that they used. Like I'm supposed to be ok with a cake that doesn't look anything, like nothing whatsoever, like the cake pic. I ask can she fix it, she says she can remove the top flowers. (This is after she is incredulous that I wouldn't want pink flowers on this cake.) I then say no, the cake won't even come close even with her removing the flowers. I ask if she will refund my daughter and she huffs and says, "uh no, all my money is in that cake." I pull out my phone and show her the pics side by side and said her cake looks like it has a purple vagina on the side and that she must be able to see they are not even remotely close to one another. She asked for my daughters cc so she could refund it. The entire time, she's short, tearful and shaking like I am the one that should apologize. As she is doing the refund I say to her, "I can tell you're upset, I don't want you upset. I will pay for the ingredients." I have no intention on taking that cake home, I was just trying to be helpful. She looks at me and says, "Well you're daughter changed the design like 5-6 times." That's when I stopped her and said, "No, you don't get to go there. You are the one that received the order over a month ago and you were the one that called the day before and said you couldn't do the cake my daughter ordered. So she sent you several cakes pics to pick from. These cakes are not even close" She immediately stopped the shaking and tearfulness and looked at me and said, "I hope she has a good party. I hope you please patronize this place again." I told her that her cupcakes were great and left. Never once did she apologize, say I'm sorry or acknowledge that the cake she tried to make my daughter pay $112 for was sub par on every level. Apologies go a long way with me. Had the lady been the least bit apologetic, I wouldn't have posted this review. All the other employees have been so nice in the past, but this lady was not, even to the point of trying to make me feel bad for not wanting to take this cake. I must say that we have loved JB Cakes in the past. We stop there almost weekly to pick up their cupcakes, brownies and cinnamon buns which are delicious. But I will not recommend them for custom cakes.
Everything was absolutely wonderful. We got a Rueben sandwich that was excellent and some cinnamon rolls. The cinnamon rolls are delectable. We are savoring them.
Stopped in for a late lunch. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. My lunch was excellent. The cupcake was phenomenal! A clean and comfortable spot with a nice vibe. What a gem! Highly recommended! If I lived closer, I'd be a regular, no doubt.
Plenty of seating, friendly staff, fresh baked goods. So far no disappointment and I've tried the donuts, cupcakes and lemon cake. Cheesecake looks amazing. I haven't had anything else there but I keep planning to go for lunch. Meat selection and quality looks fantastic!
