First salon relaxer in New Orleans - stylist didn't use timer and I have burns oozing pus from my scalp. While rinsing shampoo out I communicated the water pressure was too high and causing pain - I was told to keep my head back and the pressure could not be lowered. The pain I was feeling turned out to be pressure on open sores all around my head.I told her about allergic reactions causing scalp irritations and hair breakage which she ignored and claimed it was heat damage instead ( I previously had breast cancer and developed a soy allergy never put heat on my hair). She insisted on cutting my hair extremely short and I told her I'd give it thought however she took another client while I was thinking it over. I decided to leave at this point- she offered a style but each low maintenance and easy for her to do one I advised (small loose bun, ponytail..etc) she declined and insisted on cutting now. Again ignoring the information I told her about my health and going with "heat damage".. After preaching to me about how moisturizing my Hair is so so important -I left The chair with no moisturizer on my hair and no oil on my scalp after a CHEMICAL treatment. My hair has clumped and melted into my burns- some areas are 2nd degree. Nightmare experience. One star for salon receptionist being kind.
Ask for Kewain! She takes care of my natural hair. I go to her for my routine maintenance. So that's a good shampoo, conditioning, scalp massage, blow dry/under the dryer, trim, straightening, and style. I trust her with my hair bc she takes her time, pays attention to detail, explains how much does or does not need to be trimmed or dusted, gives me a nice crisp cut every time, gets my scalp super clean and my hair super straight, and styles my hair with ocean like waves just like I like it.
My first visit was good. My stylist & I had a good conversation about my hair. I was satisfied that she took time to explain things, to answer my questions & to offer options. The atmosphere & vibe is very nice, everyone I encountered was pleasant. What really impressed me the most was how CLEAN & NICE the bathroom was ! YES 😃 👍 I will be returning next month. I feel I have finally found a salon that suits me 😃
I had just moved back into the city and had the hardest time finding a high quality salon for Black haircare, and a friend of mine referred me to this salon. I called and they scheduled me same day for a silk press and my butt was in the chair at the time they said it would be! Brittany was the ultimate professional. Explained every step of the way what she was doing and why. Never had a silk press like that before! In a great location and the salon is very high end. Nice stylists. Definitely have found my new salon. Would recommend to anyone!
I went in and received my first silk press with a good trim. The results were stunning, but unfortunately my hair suffered some heat damage. I did not reapply heat to my hair at all after leaving the salon. Once I washed my hair, I noticed parts of my hair did not revert back. The damage is not terrible, so hopefully I can condition those areas back to life. I was really hoping that I could find a salon that I could trust to keep my hair healthy while applying heat. :/
