This is the place you’ve been looking for!! Went here with some friends while visiting New Orleans for work… the Ethiopian cuisine was unbelievable… a collard green Samosa, what? The lentils were off the chain and … well just know everything is so flavorful!! You’ve got to try the TEJ (alcoholic), it is a honey Meade type beverage and everyone loved it!! As for the service, Robert gets 10 out of 10… he was so helpful and attentive to the needs of the table. He also gave me a little history lesson of the restaurant and the African continent. Truly amazing time.
I probably don’t have an Ethiopian palate so my 3 star review will sound harsh. Note: no AC so they opened the door. The server was nice but didn’t remember my drink. It’s fine. Several pick up orders but the dining area had only 3 tables filled so not sure if it is due to the lack of AC or just not busy in general — possibly due to a Saints preseason game. As for food, it reminds me vegan style where they heavily lean on sugars to give their food flavor. I appreciate the cultural aspect but everything was just…food. The chicken was a little dry. The gaminess of the lamb is fine but my friend didn’t like it. Overall, the food is simply food. Flavors were neutral. One thing had spice. I didn’t bother to learn what I ate bc nothing impressed. I think if you are vegan, you probably will like it. Nice place. Nice ppl. Food was just food. I ordered one $60-70 platter for two, enough for 4 people. With included 20% tip, the meal was short of $90.
Absolutely terrific! I have always wanted to try Ethiopian cuisine but was a bit intimidated. Luckily, Addis’ staff made me feel right at home. Blaze was my server and he was so patient as he explained each dish and how to eat it! Food was delicious. Service was excellent. Can’t wait to go back.
Looking for something I can't have as I'm coming back from the airport, I came here on a suggestion from local friends. There's no Ethiopian anywhere near my hometown, so this is a break from the everyday. This is a large restaurant with plenty of large group seating, as Ethiopian is a more communal experience. The inside is well decorated and stands in contrast with some of the area surrounding it. After arriving about an hour before they closed, we were seated immediately and given menus. The service was awkward for lack of a better term. Not sure if the person was just young and/or inexperienced but the service was off. It took almost 15min to get our drinks, which as the bartender wasn't their fault, but they were absent the entirety of that time. We could've used more water or asked questions about the menu. When we got our beverages they took our order, but again didn't check back until our food arrived. We ordered the Sambusa( beef and lentil)veggie combo. The Sambusa is basically a deep fried dumpling, similar to samosas. The food was phenomenal. The veggie platter had an excellent variety of flavors. Maybe it's something 'new' and exciting(not really, I've had Ethiopian before) or I was hungry, but everything was on point. Again the service wasn't exemplary, as they were absent the majority of our meal, except a 20min span when they asked for refills twice. Ended the night having issues getting the bill to pay and leave. I don't want to make it seem like the server was intentionally rude or lazy, I was expecting better given the venue. I'm going to come back, the food was just too damn good, and the interior is very pleasant. Just hoping they work out some of their service issues.
This place is always a GOOD vibe. Great staff, food, and music were on point. It was an awesome night for a relaxing dinner after a long week. We started with Beef Sambusa. Then Lamb Wot with Ayib on the side, that will never disappoint any tastebuds. We even tried a new dish Mar Mitmita Shrimp with rice, and it was delicious. Kings' bread pudding was fabulous, too, with a delicious rum sauce (not a caramel sauce like other places). Can't wait to return.
