I've had very little experience with therapy, but this has by far been an overall great experience. The admin staff was great at reviewing my intake form and recommending the best fit. They accepted my insurance and even advised that they'd help send a list of in-network therapists if none were a fit within their practice. The therapy sessions have been great so far. I'm getting the tools to work on myself, and I'm already seeing improvements with dealing with work and personal life things. I'm very hopeful that I'll be able to face different life events better than I have in the past.
I love working with Group Therapy Associates. From the intake, to the selection of therapists, figuring out what was best for me and the therapists’ patience as we got into a rhythm... all amazing. I equally have have been thankful for the guidance and growth and scheduling flexibility. Highly recommend this practice!!!
I’d give 0 stars if it were an option. Our therapist (loose use of the word) Anu Sunkara was informed documentation of treatment was necessary for legal reasons. She stated this would not be an issue. Anu was reminded each week of the need for documentation and that the upcoming court date was fast approaching. We sent her a follow up email identifying the information needed, as she requested. Instead of a the documentation, we are informed via phone that she needs two weeks; then an entirely different excuse, the documentation was previously sent to authorize the writing of the letter; then yet another excuse, before she abruptly hung up the phone! Yes. You read that correctly, Anu Sunkara hung up on her clients. If you call Group Therapy Associates, you’ll hear an audio recording stating: if this is an emergency, hang up and dial 9-1-1. Every mental health therapist and organization prioritizes the safety and well being of the individuals they serve. Anu showed willful disregard for the safety and well being of her clients. Further, on the brief call, just before Anu abruptly hung up, she stated, “I don’t think you need this documentation for court.” After reading Anu’s bio, I was not surprised to see she has no background in law to make this determination. If your loved one or anyone were in distress would you want their therapist blaming them and then abruptly hanging up on them? In short, I would not recommend Anu Sunkara, nor Group Therapy Associates.
Esther is awesome. Keep up the great work!
