I went to Daknotty Roots for years before they closed their Chesapeake location. I had my locs started, retwisted, styled, and colored. I used to enjoy the atmosphere, professionalism, quality of haircare products, and the consistency in pricing. NONE of that exists anymore. I was forced to go to the Norfolk location, which is a literal hole in the wall. No one cares how long you've been waiting or if you scheduled an appointment, and the prices are so inconsistent. Also, lately, my hair retwists and styling have been hit/miss. At the other location, you were in good hands no matter who was styling you. At this location you need to learn names because you are sure not to get the same quality from everyone. It's obvious management needs leadership training because I've witnessed employees stealing from the business without a care and overheard terrible gossip about the owner and girlfriend. Something clearly isn't working right, and they need to seek professional help before the business is no more. I love the concept of a specialized natural hair care salon with loctitians, but I really dislike the execution of it lately. I am thankful to have found someone else to care for my locs, but I wish them the best and hope they can get it together.
Unfortunately, we will have to continue to try to find the right place to do our hair. The stylist really didn’t want to do my sons hair, and I know his head was horrible but that’s why I wanted to bring him to a shop. For this to be his 1st experience he isn’t happy. Left with his hair still wet and CLUMPS of product just sitting in his head. We got there late (which was my fault. I had the wrong time for the appt) and they said they would still take him. I just wish someone else would have done it or just rescheduled him. You live and learn…. I looked at everyone else’s hair when they were finished (looked amazing) and his was just rushed through and then thrown under the dryer. We will continue until we can find someone who’s passionate about what they do and willing to help and teach the proper care of the hair.
My son got his starter locs right before school. Everyone was patient and took good care of him. He looks so good. Thanks again.

I called and they was able to get me in on the same day. The person I spoke to on the phone was very pleasant. This was my first visit, I went to their Va. Beach Blvd location. When I arrived it, I was greeted and it wasn't a long wait, before I got my hair washed. She did my retwist very fast and neatly. I love my updo style, and the price was reasonable. I will definitely be returning.
