My husband and I decided at the last minute to take dance lessons, in the hope of not embarrassing ourselves during our first dance at our wedding. We had a total of 7 lessons with Stacey (1 trial + 6 actual lessons), and they were BEYOND worth it! She choreographed a full routine to our chosen song, pushed us juuust past our comfort zone with what we thought we were willing/able to do, and took videos each lesson so we could practice at home. Our guests told us it was the best first dance they've ever seen! Not only did we NOT make a fool of ourselves, but we were also able to use a lot of the moves she showed us through the rest of the night - and will be able to use them at all future weddings. We're so glad we chose to take lessons here - thank you, Stacey!!
Since my mother and father loved dance so much, I figured it was time to give it a try. My dad recommended I come to a Fred Astaire studio as he was once an instructor a lifetime ago. After my first intro lesson I was hooked and signed up for the beginner package with plans to continue. My experience has been nothing short of amazing. The staff at my time of Susannah, Stacy, Kelly, and Fabio run an amazing shop and always bring a good time with their love for the craft. They are always willing to spend an extra minute helping you work on something you're struggling with and will challenge you to be better. In just 6 lessons (and a few parties) I feel very comfortable dancing to all my favorite songs in Swing and Hustle and picked up some Bachata and Salsa skills as well. The Fred Astaire Reston crew has played a key role in me finding a new lifetime passion.
Susannah and the team in Reston did such an amazing job preparing us for our wedding dance. They worked with us throughout the process and taught two non-dancers everything we needed to know over the course of a couple months to have an amazing wedding dance experience. We highly recommend!!
My husband and I took a series of dance lessons to develop a choreographed first dance for our wedding, and Fred Astaire Dance Studio was a perfect choice for our needs. Susannah is so fun and energetic, and her passion for what she does shined through in every lesson. My husband and I had never done ballroom-style dance lessons before, but we enjoyed every minute with Susannah and felt so much more comfortable on our wedding day. We highly recommend Susannah and the entire Fred Astaire Reston/Herndon crew for wedding dance lessons or even just a great date night activity!
I have been dancing since I was 3. I was classically trained and teach jazz, tap, and ballet in the area, but I have never learned ballroom. I decided as an adult and dance teacher for kids that I missed being a student, learning new things, and performing in front of an audience. That is what brought me to Fred Astaire Reston/Herndon. This studio has been a perfect place for me to grow as a dancer. Susannah, the owner, is very kind, authentic, and welcoming to everyone. She has hired a group of top notch teachers. With my trained eye, I could easily see from watching them that they knew what they were doing, but they are also very good teachers. They all have a background in professional ballroom dance and some have been dancing and competing all over the world since they were young. I have only been with this studio since September 2022, and I have learned soooo much. The other students are so nice as well and its been great to make some friends along the way. I travel 30-45 minutes from Prince William county to go to class here, and I can't see myself ever changing because of the quality that this studio possesses. As a dancer, I know the importance of good teachers and a positive learning environment. Fred Astaire Reston/Herndon has both of those things!
