First off, Nicky is the best! I found BBB at a time when my hair was at its most vulnerable state. I had severe heat damage and needed some TLC. She’s knowledgeable, diligent, and will enhance your beauty and confidence. My hair is the best it’s ever been! The salon is clean and relaxing! I can’t say enough great things about this place— I refer everyone to Nicky. Treat yourself, You won’t regret it 😉
Salon was not cleaned. Came in and had no where to sit until she cleaned a seat for me. There was no soap in the restroom (during COVID). Unprofessional, called me the night (9pm) before asking if I could come in earlier because a customer cancelled. When I went to my appointment the environment was negative and was not relaxing to say the least. She continuously noted how thick my hair was (I’m a natural 3c with heat trained hair), she combed my hair during the wash from root to end and used Aussie’s shampoo and conditioner for a $110+ service. She complained and gossiped to another hairstylist about customers and customers constantly cancelling. She double booked my appointment however the customer ended up cancelling. Yet she continue to complain combatively how long it took to wash my hair, that she had to put me under the dryer because of my thick hair opposed to blow drying by hand, said if I wanted my ends clip it will take her more time that she didn’t expect (although she had no other customers coming in and I was paying her more). Overall I ended up getting up and leaving because I did not trust her to do my hair and I won’t be disrespected and mistreated while paying for a $140 service (silk press). I’ve had natural heat trained hair for years and don’t have difficulties doing my own hair so I didn’t understand a “professional” black hair stylist complaints. I would NEVER return or recommend Nicky to anybody. I honestly should’ve ready these reviews before booking.
Not only did she arrive late, but she did mine and another clients hair at the same time. She rushed through my appointment, did not take care of my hair as she should’ve and all around did not deserve my money. She also cut off AT LEAST 4 inches of my hair when i came in for a trim and had recently gotten a trim a couple months ago. She did this without checking in with me on what she should cut. I do not recommend her to ANYONE. There are so many other hidden hairstylists in the area that specialize in taking care of our hair we should start giving them more credit. Nicky does not deserve our money.
I was so excited for this hair appointment but left feeling just sad. I usually never leave bad reviews for black business owners, but my experience today with this owner has left me feeling completely disappointed in her actions. She was recommended to me by someone and I paid for the full service before arrival. I came in for a relaxer and deep conditioning appointment that I never recieved, because not only did she arrive an hour late to our scheduled 10:00AM appointment, she did not have much hair products available to do the relaxer for my hair type. If you are looking for a stylist experienced in black hair care, Nicky is not it! I did no I feel welcomed in her salon as a new client. This experience was so shocking to me, I came all this way from Cambridge just for my appointment and arrived early for it but only to be shown the door after waiting an hour and provided a refund.
Where do I start...By far the best experience I've ever had at a hair salon.. She is very professional and clean.. She took very good care of my hair and used great products. I am natural with damage hair so I was very reluctant to try a new hair stylist, but I am so happy I did. Definitely a loyal customer and I am excited to start this new journey to healthier hair. She was worth every dime, best Silk Press in Boston. Quality A+
