Wyndham Bayside is a great place to stay if you're looking for access to the city. I stay here a lot for work and I'm really able to make the most of the city and the central location offers many restaurants within walking distance and also beautiful views of downtown and bay. The customer service was great, but expect some delays with the shuttle due to traffic or if there is an event in the area. Overall, I love the location and the rooms are comfortable and come with plenty of amenities.
We love the Wyndham. Clean rooms, comfy beds and linens, pleasant service and the location just can't be beat. Very close to light rail which will take you just about everywhere. Even the view city side is great. This is our #1 choice when we come to San Diego.
Views of the bay are really nice, the location puts you right in the middle of everything. That is the good. The bad? It is beginning to show its age, and the housekeeping leaves a bit to be desired. The air filter in the room was gray, as it was covered in soot/mold, and the entrance had a piece of masking tape apparently holding the paint near the door. Looking where the door latches made me wish there was a cover for the door frame, as there was a substantial growth going on in there. I decided to take a shower, water was easily set to my desired temperature, but then it went downhill. They have attached bottles of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in a place where you scrape against it any time you move. If that wasn't bad enough, my ankles quickly felt rising water due to a clogged drain. I pulled out what could only be the remnants of a yeti's first bath. Overall, for the money, there are cleaner places to stay. A bit of maintenance could be had here to make it at least four stars.
Pros: great location relative to cruise ships, airport (free shuttle) and downtown San Diego. Lots of restaurant choices and scenic areas within easy walking distance. Cons: Mattress was too soft/sagging; fair amount of airplane noise comes through the windows.
Great location and staff. Rooms are very dated for a hotel of this cost and location. It's a nice place but the rooms could use new paint, carpet, and take the popcorn off the ceiling. Otherwise, a clean nice place.
