Stayed here back in July while on my summer vacation. Had seen some not so nice reviews several weeks after reserving my room, so naturally I was getting nervous, but decided to risk it. And boy am I glad it did! It was absolutely AMAZING!! I never caught his name, but the gentlemen working the front desk upon my arrival (button down shirt with the different playing card suits) was the most friendly hotel person I've met, and made me feel welcomed immediately! My room was immaculate! Top floor corner room with a balcony. The views were just incredible! The only complaint to be made about the room, was the mattress of the pullout couch bed was worn a bit thin, and you could feel the metal support bars in your back while sleeping, according to my mother who was with me. But SUCH a good hotel. And the restaurant food was amazing too! I definitely recommend this place! Not if, but WHEN I return to Charleston for vacay, I know where I'll be staying!!

One of the worst stays I have had at a Marriott. Here is a partial list- no ironing board in room ( why not), took 3 hours to have it delivered. Wooden hangers broken. View from room was looking out to a roof next door. Pictures of hotel do not depict the true look of the hotel. No basic food service other than an overprice Starbucks . Walk up to King Street to the SB , on the corner, and purchase a fair priced coffee. I would not recommend this hotel. Marriott should have inspectors come and stay at the hotels to see and feel how good customers feel about their hotel. Many more hotels to stay with better service!

My friend and I came here for a single night stay for a special event at the Gaillard Center. I read some sketchy reviews and was nervous upon check-in. This place is wonderful! Our rooms were clean. No bugs, everything was functioning fine compared to what I read about (elevators out of service, pool unavailable, rooms being dated or smelly with squeaky beds etc) not at all our experience. It's a packed city with lots to do within walking distance. A beautiful area. Some people were upset that there was no parking and that you had to pay for valet, but there is a parking garage not even a quarter mile from the hotel on the same street. If you hate walking, then I'm not sure why you'd visit the area to begin with. Also appreciate that they offer military families discounts. Very friendly staff. Would be happy to stay here again on our next visit.

Last week we hosted a corporate event here at Courtyard by Marriott Charleston Historic District. I'm incredibly happy that I chose to work with the team here, I noticed a lot of friendly staff, the event spaces worked perfectly for our needs, and great food from the catering. Also, I want to give a huge shout-out to our Catering manager Madison, and our sales manager Tess, they both made the process so much easier with their proactive work and flexibility to work with any changes. Thanks for everything your team did to help make our event a success!

Good location but very outdated. Paint peeling off of the walls. I couldn’t take a shower because of the noise it was making when the faucet was turned on and water was running. Also, drunk people in the hallways and very loud.
