Stayed here recently while on a family vacation for a few days. Located in a very quiet area, which was perfect for us. Hotel definitely looks old from the outside but has a lot of character. Rooms were recently remodeled and looked nice, clean. Construction was going on to remodel the lobby, but did not hear much noise from it. Overall great experience but a few minor things I will complain about, has to do mainly with the restaurant. During happy hour both days we attended, the bartender ran out of a few things that we like to drink. They also ran out of boneless buffalo wings one night as we went to order food which is hard to believe anyone could run completely out of something like that considering it’s just chicken tenders and hot sauce. Bartender would not make certain drinks during happy hour which I can somewhat give him the benefit of the doubt since he was getting everyone through the line very efficiently. One more complaint about the restaurant is that for some reason their sandwiches and burgers come with a side of fried onion rings and it will cost you $7 extra to substitute for French fries. There were a few minor things outside of the issues with the restaurant like no hangers for hand towels inside the bathrooms of our room, and the elevators are a little weird the way one will take you down to the parking garage, but the one right next to it won’t however both come when you call the elevator but you have to wait for the one for the parking garage if you need to get down there. I have stayed at many Embassy’s and one thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of the older ones were designed with a lot of flaws like that. We will be making another trip there next year which we have in fact already booked, and I hope to change my review to all 5 stars.
We went for a long holiday weekend. The staff members were very nice but we didn't have a great resort experience. We did the $25/day self-parking and had trouble finding a place to park in the garage every time. The staff comped the parking fees for two out of the four days which was very appreciated, but still, just an annoyance. We had a partial ocean/pool view room. The balcony doors were extremely difficult to open, specifically in the bedroom. We just used the living space balcony because we were afraid the door was going to break in the bedroom. The bathroom had hair in the sink, bathtub, and on the floor. I assume it was from previous guests but maybe the cleaning staff? There were also specs of dirt or something else on the backside of the toilet lid. Just a very poor clean job in between guests. We were refused umbrella/chair service at the beach. The person working said they were closing in an hour and a half and were not setting any more up. There were several empty chairs still set up that we would have gladly taken to not cause extra work. Paying $35/day for a resort fee, we should have been able to still use that service. In the resort fee inclusions, it says you receive two bottles of water daily, but you have to go to the front desk to request them, and they're just warm bottles of water right from the case. Meanwhile, they have Voss water bottles in your room with a label on them that says if you drink them, you'll be charged $7. Not sure why they wouldn't put the water in the rooms that are complimentary? Just seems sneaky, almost, like they're trying to trick you. They ran out of pool towels half of the time we went to the pool. Just a lot of things that left us feeling more stressed than relaxed. Overall we didn't get to enjoy the trip. It's unfortunate, but we will know to not book this place in the future.
I just returned home this week after spending 5 nights at this property. My family and I enjoyed ourselves. The pool was nice and the beach area was also nice when the tide was out. Our room was one that had been renovated and it was very comfortable. This is a great location to visit with children. The complimentary cocktails were nice as well. I would definitely come back here in the future.
Our stay was absolutely perfect. Matt, who works the front desk at night, went above and beyond any reasonable expectations to make our weekend as easy and as amazing as possible. Before I explained to him what my intentions that weekend were he was already doing what he could from upgrading our suite to ensuring we’d have a good view of the ocean. He spoke to me as a person and was incredibly personable. When I shared with him that I was proposing that weekend he ensured everything was beyond perfect with our stay. It was 2am and he was happily available to provide us with fresh pillows and food recommendations. He provided us with small gifts and even a bottle of wine at the end of our big day. The best part of it all is that he was genuine with all his actions and accommodations. It never felt like he was just working there, in turn it felt like he genuinely enjoyed what he was doing. If it weren’t for Matt it would have been just another regular stay at a Hilton.
Overall, was not a fan of this hotel. The pillows were super uncomfortable that I had not one good night of sleep. This place did offer drink tickets which was a bonus but during the hotels happy hour, they had only 1 older bartender working and he was very slow. There were super long lines just to get 1 drink at the bar for happy hour, we waited over 10 minutes on line. On top of that I went to grab a cocktail at 9 pm and the bar was closed? Who closes a bar so early at a hotel? BEWARE if you have your car valet, they charge you every single time you get your car valet, it is NOT covered for the entire day. Hotel was very outdated and the elevators were hot and musty and smelled like a wet dog. This hotel is pet friendly and my couch in the room had cat or dog hair and it was disgusting. Room size was big with 2 bathrooms which was the only plus.
