It's okay. Rooms were a nice suite size vs a standard hotel. You can actually live here long term for $2000-3000 monthly. The hotel could use some TLC no doubt but for the price and location it was fine. Room service was wonderful, desk staff was nice. Couple random elevator problems I experienced and the rooms needed some help but it's all little stuff. The thermostat was sort of hidden behind the TV which I pictured so that was odd finding my way behind the TV to alter the temp of the room. I also noticed the ceiling near the HVAC vents was covered in black dust. Also pictured. That wasn't pleasant but not life altering. I wouldn't say the hotel is unsafe. Sure it's the city it's dangerous no matter what metropolitan area or state you visit but I had no issues. Parking was odd no tickets come out of the ticket gate it just opens 5 seconds later so literally anyone can come and go. You get your parking slip instead from the front desk.
The extended stay rooms are absolutely phenomenal. Spacious and equipped with all your needs! The staff have been so friendly and helpful. Dee (director of sales) and Janine (manager) have gone above and beyond to help me and accommodate my extended stay. Would highly recommend!
I gave service 3 stars because everyone we came into contact with was very friendly. And the location was great. But the state of our hotel room was very disappointing! Their site said fully renovated. Not the rooms! Looks like they just painted and caulked over things instead of repairing. There was mold on the grout in the tub, and the cover around the shower head pipe was falling off. The room smelled musty and there was black on the ceiling everywhere the air vents were. The sofa bed was terrible, even for a small child. The mattress seemed very old, and some of the springs felt like they were broken. I don’t think they are made well for adults, but a lightweight child shouldn’t be uncomfortable on one in my opinion. The carpet in the bedroom was wet when we arrived. When we called the front desk to report, we were told it was just a little condensation from the air conditioner. The next morning the carpet was soaked! We stopped by the front desk on the way out and was told they don’t have anyone on site to repair and there was no other rooms to offer but they would give me extra points like somehow that made it better. All night we had to listen to dripping water. It sounded like maybe the water pan was overflowing for the AC. We asked if somebody could just come open the cabinet and maybe empty it out, and was told that the best they could do was try to suck up some of the water from the carpet. The elevator there is also horrible. So slow. So very slow. We were only there for two nights and there weren’t other available rooms due to a convention in the area otherwise I would have left. It is a shame because this hotel is right on the canal. It has potential to be great. But they are going to have to do more than just paint and caulk!
We have stayed at this hotel before and loved our experience. Saturday, we had a much different experience and it was NOT a good one. The advertised check in time is 3pm. We got to the hotel at 7:10pm expecting to immediately go to our room, as our 10 month old needed to get to sleep. When we were checking in we were informed that our room was not ready yet and we had to wait until they prepared one for us. We did not get keys to a room until 8pm. Then when we got to our room, the trash was overflowing from the previous guest and there was OPEN Tylenol on the table (we have two small children so that was a big safety concern). The manager that night kept telling us there was “nothing” he could do for the inconvenience we experienced. Luckily we did end up getting a refund, but we had to wait to talk to someone else two days later for that.
Check in gal was in back sleeping, judging by her sweater marked face, when I checked in. I was able to stir her though when I called from between the doors at the scary hour of midnight. The manager did her best to put out fires but it was obvious she was tired after the long day of people calling her because the water was out and no showers could be had. The place was pretty clean but could have been cleaner. Toilet had prior poop markings and a few pubes left over as well but hey, no bugs!
