We absolutely loved our stay. We were in a nice area (upper east side) also close to two subway stations and in walking distance of central park. It was also a relatively quiet area. Its definitely going to be our go to hotel for staying in Manhattan
I stayed here about a year ago when my husband had to spend a week in a hospital. My room was clean, comfortable and quiet, and the hotel is in a nice neighborhood. The bus stop that I needed was a short walk from the hotel. It was also very easy to order a cab. My only wish was that it had a restaurant. But there are a few places to get food in the area. Most importantly, I felt safe staying here.
Very basic accomodations, but room was clean. Wheelchair accessible room had large bathroom with roll in shower, but shower seat was a cheap plastic type from wal mart. Not really adequate for unassisted transfer. Service was friendly, and coffee was surprisingly good. Beds were soft.
We stayed here for a week, and the entire time the TV didn’t work. When asked, they said it was because of the rain… ummm… it wasn’t raining much of the time we were there, and since when does rain knock out TV in 2023?? Half of the staff were very friendly and courteous, while the other half were surly and rude, treating us like we were criminals. They decided to change all the door keys during our stay, meaning we made numerous trips from the 14th floor, back to the desk, because they’d given us the wrong keys. Very frustrating with a hungry cranky baby when we just wanted to get in our room. Same goes for the fitness room, which advertised a sauna and stream room, neither of which was working. There is no breakfast, just coffee that sits for hours. We could have looked past much of this, but none of the inconvenience was acknowledged, and for more than $3000 USD , we expected more. Also, the morning of our last day, we were waken by an indoor waterfall, soaking us from above. We called the desk as soon as it started (not drips but actually pouring down) and they stuck a‘wet floor ‘ sign up. Nothing else. So we and our luggage got drenched leaving our room, including our infant. We visit New York every few months as family lives there. This hotel could have made a fortune from us, but this hotel is a disgrace to the Marriott brand.
Overall this Courtyard met our needs and the staff are the ones who deserve credit for the positives associated with my family’s visit. For sightseeing in Manhattan the location is a bit further north than we were wanting. However, there is a bus stop half a block east of the hotel entrance where we were able to take buses to Central Park and other destinations further South. The rooms are comfortable but could use new carpets and new furniture. There is no closet so the wardrobe armoire is the only place to hang clothes and the three-drawer chest is the only other furniture in which to store clothes. There is a coffee maker, a microwave, and a small refrigerator in the room. We used the refrigerator to keep our drinks cold and our food fresh. We used the microwave to warm up our breakfast snacks. We preferred to use the coffee maker in the lobby so we could mix in the available creamer or chocolate powder.
