Hotel was dated - not like the pictures presented. Location for why we were in Pittsburgh was fantastic. Hotel staff left a lot to be desired. I was expecting great things based on the reviews I had read and ended up highly disappointed. We were not greeted upon checkin other than being told how full they were for the night. Upon entering our room, noticed the corners of the walls were covered in dust and the curtain sheer was torn in the middle but knew we didn’t have other room options since we were told how full they were. After using the toilet, we noticed it leaked when you flushed it. Waited until the morning to ask the front desk to fix since we would be gone for the day and requested towels to be refreshed. Returned 10 hours later and no one had been to our room. Called the front desk to inquire and they offered to send maintenance up at 7pm. I told them that was unacceptable especially since they asked if we would be out of the room when we reported the problems. Was asked what I would like for them to do. I replied with it was their hotel and I was not aware of their customer relation policies but I had not been satisfied with our stay thus far. I was offered to switch rooms and they brought us new room keys. New room was cleaner. Still dated and the beds were not comfortable. Woke up both with lower back pain. Next time we will try another hotel in the area as we won’t return to the Hilton.
Stayed for 2 wks due to convenient location to Pittsburgh University & Carnegie Mellon University. Reception people was nice. Bed was comfortable. However the hotel is very outdated and overpriced. Elevator very slow and sometimes waited for very long only one elevator is moving while the other one just parked at the other level, guess they really need an update to the entire hotel. AC very loud and affects sleep, construction site adjacent to the window (such a bad view that I seldom open the curtain!) of my room was really noisy starting at 6:30am even on Saturday!!! Room was very old and can see stains on sofa. Cleaner don’t understand a single English, he had to communicate with me using a translator on his phone and very simple thing took a long time to communicate.
Place is fine and clean. When you come in at street level, you must do stairs up or down to get to an elevator, which is strange. Check in is pretty efficient. See below for parking information. Rooms are typical. While there's construction going on, that side of the hotel can get noisy early in the morning, even on Saturdays. They have games downstairs and move areas to sit and talk. Bar area is nice. Was there for a meeting and they moved us from a meeting room on the 7th floor (with windows) to one on the bottom floor (without) at the just minute. Have to order their food for lunch. It was good and plentiful but expensive.
Breakfast Buffet is 16 dollars, reasonable price. Location is unbeatable. The air flow in the room needs improvement but no major issues. Room is decent overall for Hilton Garden Inn brand.
Location convenient to Pitt and hospital. Room cleanliness was sorely lacking even after a request for a thorough cleaning. Stayed in an accessible 1 bedroom and the room was a nice size.
