It's mostly a 5-star experience. The only reason i marked it 4 stars is because there were a couple of days when room service or a guest was banging around in the rooms around me, and the noise was transferring through the walls, making it hard for me to get some extra sleep in the morning. Other than that, I have zero complaints. Very friendly staff, the restaurant is solid with very friendly bartenders, the room was clean and comfortable. They have a laundromat and a gym that has everything you would need for a multiple day-week stay. I would definitely stay here again.
This hotel was perfect for what we needed for a few days in Portland! Enough space for our bikes in the room, a comfortable bed, and close to a lot of shopping! Deon at the front was very friendly and accommodating! Happy to stay here again whenever we are in the area.
First, let's get it out of the way... Yes, there are homeless people outside. Yes, some of them have probably done drugs relatively recently. But the area around the hotel itself is kept clean (at least by city standards), and the hotel has a guard and valet, in addition to front desk staff, who were pretty proactive about keeping the immediate area safe. I left and got back to the hotel when it was dark out, and it was fine. As for the hotel itself, it's a Courtyard by Marriott, with the usual amenities. The rooms are somewhat small, but you're in a city, it isn't anything to not be expected. My bathroom had a few poorly done repairs around the towel hooks where the wall covering appeared to be peeling, but other than that, the room appeared to be in decent condition, with some normal wear and tear on the furniture. The water pressure tended to fluctuate often in both the shower and the sink, between a strong stream and what I'd expect from a gardenhose. Not a dealbreaker, just mildly annoying when I was taking a hot shower. Also, the shower was very slick, but I was the dumb one who didn't use the mat provided. It's walking distance to most things you'll need when visiting on business. The selection in the market in the lobby was pretty good. I'd come back.
A very nice place. Everything was clean and well put together. Public transport is right outside the front door. Parking here is $40 per day. There is a restaurant here. There are a lot of tents and homeless people using drugs on the streets but that is everywhere in downtown Portland. The Marriott is a nice place and I would stay again.
The hotel website shows a luxury room with beautiful city view. I took a photo of the website room I booked vs what we walked in! Bed was way too firm, the carpets dirty, the sink in the bathroom is so small and odd. I just don’t like the deception of what they say you are booking and what you get. Did not sleep well on the hard mattress, Will not stay in this hotel nor recommend
