I have 5 stars for service, because the lady behind the desk was very sweet even as they were about to close for the evening. The food was really good. I was greedy yesterday so I ordered the Beef short ribs-Amazing!! I had dressing, Mac and cheese, black eyed peas, and mashed potatoes. The only not thing( not negative) just my preference the mashed potatoes could've been more creamy. But again I went as they were closing. I will definitely give them another try earlier in the day. But those Black eyed peas, were the best thing!! Oh and I got the yummy carrot cake, best I've had this year yet!! I told you at the beginning I was greedy this day! I hope you check it out and enjoy it🥰
Got a carry-out order on Sunday after church. The business is usually brisk all the time, with parking pretty scarce. I got Fried Chicken (dark meat, 4 pieces), dressing, greens, and carrot cake. All were delicious. The chicken was fried to perfection, with good seasoning. Dressing and greens delicious also. Slice of carrot cake, called Big Carrot, was really BIG!! And very tasty. There is definitely enough cake to have some the next day. Urban Soul has been in this location for quite a while now, and the taste of the food tells you why they are still in business!! Worth a trip.
This was the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. The ladies working there were super nice and got our food out pretty fast. The restaurant itself was big and felt really spacious. I went at a time of day where there were only 2 or 3 other groups there, so it was very peaceful and quiet. This was the perfect restaurant for me on my visit to Detroit from Tulsa, O.K.!

Old school diner setting was the backdrop for our dinner here. The food was mediocre at best and the service was slow but they were pleasant. The fried chicken had no flavor, the mac and cheese was dry and the greens were edible. I was here with a group and visiting from out of town. Prices are reasonable.
