I decided on the caramel cake delicious, a little less moist than I’m use to, but overall the flavor was mind blowing especially the icing. I also ordered the peach cobbler cookie which was like biting into a piece of heaven! Thank you for that beautiful experience. I did not care for the sugar lemon cookie; the chocolate chip cookie was good. The service: I did not receive a warm welcome, our establishments really need to train their cashiers or front desk associates to have better customer service skills, they are the first person we encounter when walking in. The parking is horrible, but I lucked up and got a spot right when someone was leaving. I will be back for that peach cobbler cookie!
Absolutely loved stopping in to Good Cakes and Bakes for their 10 year anniversary! Good Cakes and Bakes has a range of sweets including cookies, cakes, brownies, cheesecake bars and more. For our plant based friends out there, there are several vegan friendly options to choose from. We tried the German chocolate, chocolate and vanilla cupcakes plus the vegan chocolate cake (all fabulous and this is coming from a non-vegan as well!) The interior is fun and fresh filled with other treats, trinkets, and books available for purchase. If you love pink this is the instagrammable spot for you. The icing on the cake is the staff- as sweet as the goodies they’re serving up. Plus, who doesn’t love supporting a Detroit local, black/woman/LGBTQ+ owned business in the city? Can’t wait to stop back at in soon to satiate my sweet tooth. (Parking is a little rough, we parked on the street though!)
My first time visiting, and was delighted to visit a bakery with vegan goodies , I purchased lemon sugar cookies , brownies with nuts and a delicious German chocolate cake . Also they had another vendor on site selling body creams and soaps and I bought a few of them as well , check them out pics added to this post
Customer service was pleasant. They were very patient as we took some time to decide as first timers. Spent $36. The cake is good and moist. The only thing I was not a fan of was the icing. I’m use to sweet icing and this was more so not that sweet. I just like it sweet like we do in the south! But flavor was still there. Still haven’t eaten the cheesecake yet though. The Pound cake is my fave so far. I was disappointed in the yellow cake and chocolate icing, the icing wasn’t sweet enough and tasted like overpowering of cocoa. Not a fan of the caramel icing either. But so glad they had vegan options! That was a plus and they had a variety of flavors/items to offer! True bakery style.
Thanks to Yelp for this yummy experience. This store was super cute. I love the decor on the inside. It was nice and clean and had seating. I thought it was great that they had some seating outdoors as well. There's not a lot of parking but you can either park on the street or in the small gravel covered lot across the street next to a Hibachi spot. It's public parking. The employee that waited on me was really friendly and while she hadn't personally tasted most of the cake flavors, she did share with me which one was the most popular! Which is what I got. I got the Caramel cake and at first glance it was everything that I expected and remember from my childhood. The cake is soft and dense, which I like for caramel cake. The caramel consistency was pretty good. I wish it had a little more flavor. It was just a tad bland. The case full of desserts looks yummy and they had lots of options available including vegan. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely drop by and try another one of the desserts that were available. @goodcakes_andbakes @yelpdetroit
