I enjoyed all of the different food stations and there was a large variety. The seating is nice, it's a large space. Food is expensive, but there is no tax since it is a federal building.
Convenience is the only real reason to eat here. After a long day of touring the city & just coming off of a tour of the capital building, we needed some food. The food trucks are not around this area and the nearest restaurants are blocks away. So, we settled for the cafe. There were several options, including both Coke & Pepsi. I made the mistake of choosing the pepperoni pizza. The crust was partly burned on the bottom and nearly impossible to nut through with the stainless wear that was provided. Prices were more reasonable that the museum cafes, but only just. Restrooms nearby are very large & clean. Staff were friendly enough.
Its good for what it is - without the vouchers the food would have been very expensive.
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food at this cafe. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with a side of green beans for $12. The chicken was so flavorful, I wish I hadn’t taken the optional barbecue sauce—it didn’t need it. The green beans were cooked perfectly—firm, but not too crunchy. Even the side of fruit I got was delicious. My husband got the chicken leg and said it was delicious as well. Much better than the touristy foods around DC.
Tried capital cake. Berries with whip cream bed in white chocolate capital bowl. $8.95.
