Easy to find , five minutes from brookside with plenty of parking right in front on Troost or an ample off street parking lot in back off 63rd street. Tonight the princess and I tried the beef and vegetable patties as well as the jerk chicken with rice. The food was great very tasty and authentic. The atmosphere is very lively and so authentic in fact I spotted a set of dominoes and a young beggar just like our trip to Jamaica! I'm sure to return to this jewel hidden in plain sight very soon.

We ordered takeout while in the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and the oxtails, rice n peas, cabbage, plantains were really good! We also bought all of their Mango Rum Cake that was left. Whenever we come back to KC, MO. we will dine here. Might even see us next week!!

One of the best places I've eaten in Kansas City. We got the Beef Suya Meal, Beef Pattie, and Cookies 'n Cream Rum Cake, and everything was delicious. The Beef Pattie was perfectly flaky and savory and well-seasoned. I have some regrets about not buying extras for breakfast tomorrow! The Beef Suya was lightly charred and very flavorful. The rum cake wasn't messing around. The atmosphere was pleasant with lots of comfortable seating and great decor. There is plenty of street parking one block off the main drag. One caveat: don't rely on the online menu, as prices and options have changed a bit.

I googled “Jamaican restaurant near me”, Wah Gwarn was second in the search because of distance but had a 4.7 rating as opposed to 4.4 to the nearer Jamaican restaurant. I would choose a 4.4 restaurant any day because I believe that’s an excellent rating too. However, I chose the 4.7 rating because the name I thought was cool and it’s a phrase I use often in everyday speech talking to most Caribbean people of friends and family as a greeting. Now to the best part of this review. This is no exaggeration, this is in the top 3 best Jamaican restaurants I’ve ever been to 💯. I am from another Caribbean island (Antigua) and I have tasted many Jamaican food in my lifetime. I had the rasta pasta, and usually it is served by itself or with shrimp, but they accommodated my request to have it with curry chicken. Usually when I buy rasta pasta it can sometimes be very greasy but this was perfect. It didn’t make me feel bloated, just perfectly seasoned. The proportion was perfect and I just thoroughly enjoyed my Sunday lunch in Kansas City. I had the sorrel to wash it down. Perfectly sweetened. I had to even ask what did she sweetened it with. It wasn’t overpowering and perfectly sweetened. I got to my car and turned back to buy another cup or sorrel. The ambiance is that of a true Caribbean restaurant but with a twist. The writings on the wall are all Caribbean sayings or proverbs. It reminded me of things my Caribbean grandparents would say. It was nostalgic. Overall, from the constant flow of patrons, this restaurant is deserving of a 5 star. My rating is ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️+ See you the next time I’m in Kansas City.

Top part of my plate is filled with nothing but FAT! Small portion of goat MEAT actually given — shown bottom right corner. You play yourself when you do this to customers. $20 plate of fat? Won’t get me again! ✌🏽
