I had a great experience renting a kayak here and paddling around the lake. The guys were friendly and personable. The equipment was in good shape and the price was right. The lake is beautiful. It was definitely a great way to spend the day.
I found the fellows working here to be awesome. Full of local fishing knowledge. Had been fishing a stink bait for channel cats that has always served me well, however on the Shenandoah River the Channel Cats weren’t interested. Fellow sold me some Clam Snouts and it was a game changer. I see the bad reviews and all I can figure is those fellows were not there when I stopped by. Next time I am in that neck of the woods I will support Gregory’s once again!
wanted to rent a boat and arrived at 8 am it was closed the guy was late. Than he said he couldn't rent one because he had to bail them out and would take a couple of hours. I walked to the boats and there was at the most a pint of water in some and no water n others. I went back and told him than he said there was a storm coming and couldn't rent any. It's now noon and no storm. The guy was rude and argumentative. I feel he didn't want to work . I do not recommend .
Would DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND renting a kayak from this establishment! The kayak we rented sunk after 20 minutes in the lake due to not one, but two holes in the bottom. The owner was belligerent, rude and obnoxious. He refused a refund and even suggested we were to blame for the kayak sinking. Renter beware!!
We enjoyed our trip. Two young kids and an adult fit well on the shorter boat (I think a 6 or 7 footer). The trolling motor got us around pretty well. You'll need to check your license if renting a boat - don't forget to get it back before you leave!
