The best part about this place was the gentleman that took our order at the counter. He was kind and helpful while we were placing our order. I would consider this place to be a dive BBQ joint, so I was hoping that the food would have been great. It unfortunately didn't live up to expectations. The pork was dry. The onion rings were bland and needed a little more salt. They charge for refills on drinks even though the drink prices are already near industry standard. Parking and seating is a little limited here.
Overall excellent food. I had the pulled pork and smoked sausage, with smoked Mac and cheese and onion rings. This came served with toast and cornbread. The pulled pork was flavorful, if a bit dry. The sweet sauce more than made up for this though! Just a small amount of sauce made the pork quite delicious. The smoked sausage was perfect, no complaints at all. Flavorful, moist, smoky flavored. Perfection. Max and cheese was likewise delicious. Very cheesy and had a light smoky taste to it that paired well with the BBQ pork and sausage. Onion rings left a bit to be desired. They were seasoned well, and probably would have been good but they seemed simultaneously slightly over cooked but also were not hot when they arrived. The cornbread and toast was cornbread and toast. Nothing to really say besides that! The cornbread was quite good though, and a good consistency!
When I saw this place I was very excited to check it out. Since I was new to the Omaha and just getting here from Texas. This was the first BBQ restaurant I visited and I must say that I was very disappointed. I like the restaurant decorations and the staff was very friendly. I even had the pleasure of talking to the owner and we had excellent conversation. From the discussion he convinced me to get a sample of most the meats and he had me excited to dive in. I so glad that I did not add the beef rib, because I can't imagine that would have been any better. Once I arrived home and opened my food the visual was absolutely disappionting and things went down hill from there. The meat had pretty decent flavor but it was rather dry (not moist). Everything looked like it was a few days old it really killed my adrenaline. Everything was mixed together and it just looks horrible. I think the owner should have talked to the cooks in the back, so they could have prepared me a plate that matched his hype; because the two were definitely disconnected. I always love to support small business but I can honestly say the I will not try this place again. Everything looked like 3 day old leftovers. I did not even try to finish my food.
I came from Denver looking for good BBQ. This was not it. I ordered two brisket sandwiches. The beans were okay, but that brisket was mostly fat, no smoke ring. This was worse than Denver BBQ. I should have looked at the last review. They were correct about the quality of the food. 1 out of 10 would not recommend it.
Great service, great food. Food did not take long to get to the table. Friendly atmosphere. Picture is half a rack of beef ribs with baked beans, potato salad, corn bread and toast. I recommend you give them a try.
