We had heard good things about Big Mama's, and we were looking forward to an authentic soul food experience. It was a little tough to find due to the street-facing signage being a little tough to spot, but our GPS got us there. We were surprised about how new the building was, and while it was nice, it didn't seem very "down home". The polished concrete floors and metal surfaces made the dining area loud, as was the music. The food was okay, but it was pricey and there was nothing really special about it. Maybe we caught them on an off night?
First time here and we loved it! Plenty of options for the pickiest or even most adventurous eaters. I stuck with a classic spicy chicken sandwich, and was pleasantly surprised by the po' boy style bread that was top notch! With an amazing side of potato salad I couldn't have asked for more. Great outdoor seating, plenty of indoor seating and a bar. Really nice place with some cool and fun history behind it; Definitely worth a visit!
Can't find Big Mama's Kitchen? It's inside the building with Hardy Coffee on the first floor. Park in the lot to the north, go up the stairs, enter the doors on the left, and you'll see it on the right! I stopped by for the 2023 Nebraska Passport and couldn't stop by when it was open.

Amazing food! :) We're from the south and have been looking for a good southern restaurant and this one definitely is. We had the meal for 2 with fish and oven fried chicken and as sides had the mac & cheese, sweet potato pudding, okra, and collard greens. Everything tasted wonderful!
