The Dope Shot

To date THE BEST Caribbean restaurant on the west coast. The atmosphere, the customer service and the food was beyond incredible!!!! They even offer vegan options which were great for my friends. This is officially my #1 favorite food spot in Vegas!

Met friends here, their choice. I'm not a spicy food person and this was my first experience with any type of Jamaican food. I always hear everyone talk about jerk chicken but I had no idea what that meant. First of all, the service was great. Our waitress went above and beyond helping me select something that would fit my palette. I settled on the fried chicken with slaw and cornbread; EXCELLENT! It was dark meat (which I normally don't eat) and it was so good, I ate it without complaint. It was accompanied by a wonderful mango based sweet sauce. My husband got the stewed jersey chicken plate and our friends ordered the salmon (all spicy) All of us were pleased with our food. The prices were reasonable and comparable to other similar restaurants. It's a small place on S Durango and was moderately busy. The food came out in a timely manner and the ambiance was light & comfortable. Will definitely be returning.

Had the curry chicken w/beans rice, reggae slaw, jerk sliders & hibiscus drink. This was my 1st time there & it was a long drive 25 miles; it was a online order with pickup. The curry chicken was very good. The rice/beans weren't as moist as I would've liked but were good. The reggae slaw I didn't to much particularly care for but to each there own. I didn't see any regular cabbage on the menu that jamaica spots serve so that was disappointing. As far as the jerk sliders they weren't to my liking; they weren't very flavorful & lacking moisture. I ate one & ended up throwing the other two away. The hibiscus drink was rich in flavor & nice departure from sodas. Seeing as I'm so far away I don't see myself making another trip as there are other exceptional jamaican restaurants closer.

This is a popular spot. I tried Chicken Stew with rice and Festivals. The chicken was the darkest chicken I had ever seen. It had a jerky crust and was completely soaked with the sauce. The taste was awesome and it had a perfect spice. I dislike meat that comes with bones and fat. But I knew already that all of their dishes would come with it. The pictures show how much bone the meat contained. The Festivals where deep fried sweet bread sticks. I did not really know what to expect. I try to avoid deep fried food. The Festivals were good, but to me, too unhealthy. When I eat unhealthy food, it must be something extremely special, not deep fried bread sticks. Most of their items are very pricey, but mine was actually very good priced. My bill was $20.54 including tea. I did not like how they wrapped the napkins around the utensils. When I unwrapped it, the napkins basically ripped apart and due to the bones, I really needed the napkins. It was kind of messy.

My husband and I had lunch here on Friday. Katie took excellent care of us and the food was delicious. We had two of the Jamaican Patties, the oxtail, the curried goat, rice and peas, and sweet plantain. We also enjoyed the Ginger Lemonade. We cannot get authentic Caribbean food at home, so this was exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend!
