My sorority sister and I were hitting up hot spots in Brooklyn and Decided to add Simpson to the list since she had never dined there. We went online and made a reservation. We arrived 15 minutes early and of course we still had to wait. We asked to be seated in a booth but was sitted at a table near the bar. Our server was on point, provided the specials of the day. We ordered a few appetizers' wings (curry/jerk) full of flavor. Cod Fish Cakes I'll pass next time. Flat and no flavor. In the past I enjoyed them. I ordered the Whole Red Snapper delicious worth the price. My sister ordered the Salmon and had no complaints. I live on Staten Island and don't mind traveling to Brooklyn for good food drinks and ambiance.
I went to The Simpson Restaurant and bar for my birthday celebration. I had a awesome time. The staff was courteous and professional. We ordered Bourbon barbecue wings and coconut shrimp appetizers and the main meal was curry goat, white rice and in season vegetables, oxtail, season vegetables, rice and peas. Red wine, passion drink and the Simpson signature drink. I was surprised everything was delicious. I will definitely return.
Worth a try. Friends and I went to celebrate a graduation and we had a time! (Third time here) The atmosphere was nice and enjoyable, music was not too loud and ridiculous. You will enjoy the food also as we didn’t have too many complaints. Three things: my friend did not enjoy the salmon much as it was dry and overcooked, another friend got the Henney shrimp but it came with fries that weren’t seasoned and lukewarm, It also came with veggies not seasoned which probably should’ve been a tossed salad the combination was odd. Also my Friends said The rice and peas were a bit spicy. Other than that the food was good and the portion size did not disappoint. My lamb chops were well seasoned and cooked to my liking and the mashed potatoes and gravy it came with was good also. A friend had the jerk wings which were cooked well and we also had two orders of Mac and cheese which was good. This is definitely a place you’d want to check out when you’re in Brooklyn! Make reservations!
My mom went to this restaurant with her coworkers so she was excited when work hosted a conference here. The setup was a bit delayed because the restaurant thought the reservation was cancelled. It took some back and forth before we were able to get the private room. We started the presentation and maybe 45 minutes later the waitress comes in to take the orders. She went around to each person to take their order. The waitress was very sweet but I don't think she should have managed the entire room by herself. There was maybe 15 people in the entire group but we ordered drinks and appetizers and never got them. We also had to wait a really long time to get our food that some people left before getting their dessert. They said the dessert was prepared ahead of time but that still took almost 55 minutes to get us dessert to 10 people. Instead of serving the food, the waitress kind of left the food on the tables. Most of the family size items didn't have any serving utensils. We were sitting with empty water glasses and dirty plates for more than hour. I feel like maybe they were overwhelmed but it was a lackluster event and the service made the night more worse. We waited almost 1.5 hour for food! We had wings, cod fritters, and coconut shrimp. The food wasn't hot but lukewarm. My mom liked the wings but one of them was burnt to a crisp that no one wanted them. The cod fritters was spicy but dry. They didn't include the dipping sauce. The coconut shrimp had a hint of sweetness. They also didn't include any dipping sauce. I got the curried shrimp with plantains and rice and beans. The shrimp already had a layer of dried fat which means it was sitting around for a while. The shrimp was spicy but like the rice and beans it lacked salt and flavor. It was kinda bland. The plantains were tasty and enjoyable. Perhaps, the next time I come back it won't be with a group because they didn't handle that well at all.
Had a wonderful time here, food was so good but my jerk chicken was burnt. Love the music and atmosphere. May need to make a reservation depending on time of day. Went on a Sunday around 1pm and it quickly got VERY crowded. 8/10 would go again!
