Getting my dress through Designer Loft was an unbelievably easy process. I went to look for dresses for the first time in August of 2022 for my April 2023 wedding. My consultant Brie (like the cheese, her words!) made the experience comfortable and enjoyable for me and my group. She was not only extremely kind, but also very mindful of my budget and preferences. She helped me find the dress of my dreams and plan out some modifications I wanted made to it in alterations. I picked an Aire Barcelona full A-line gown with lots of glitter. My dress came in either late December 22 or early January 23 and I was swiftly scheduled for my first f fitting. I believe my seamstress’s name was Natasha, and she was excellent. I had 4 fittings for my dress and they were all quick and easy. My office is just a few steps away so it made for very easy 5 PM fittings during the process. I picked my dress up the week of my wedding and went on to have the best weekend of my life.
Pros: super friendly staff/consultants, dress arrived within expected time frame, good variety/prices, enjoyed standing on the podium and crying when I found "the one" with my mom Cons: not a super clean/maintained place. Furniture is torn and needs replacing, the bathrooms were super dirty (embarrassing when I brought my friends to the fittings). Biggest Con: alterations. I went through their "in house" seamstress and it was, in one word, unprofessional. I was given the flat rate cost of alterations when I purchased my gown and then at my first fitting was told "that is last years price, its 700 now". I argued that it was not what I was told, and I had the quote written down on my receipt when I bought the dress so the seamstress ended up honoring it. The appointments are RUSHED. No time is taken to make the bride feel comfortable or special, you are in and out in 5 minutes and left confused. Things were not done by the next appointment, pins were where sewing was supposed to be. I had to tell the seamstress to sew in the bra cups properly..... not just one stitch on each corner. The work is sloppy. The hem was not even, probably because I got a ballgown and it would be time consuming to do it right. In the end I told myself it's one day, no one looks for hem work when they see the bride, don't get upset. But if you are a bride who cares about quality on an expensive dress DO NOT get alterations done here. I paid hundreds of dollars for work I honestly probably could have done myself if I watched a youtube tutorial on sewing, it was that bad.
I had such a great wedding dress shopping experience here. My first appointment was with Marie Claire, who took the time to listen and understand my preferences. She quickly grasped the styles I liked and helped me find my wedding dress. I did not feel rushed at all to make a decision. I had a second appointment with Daiana, who was also great. She had me try out my dress again and provided many suggestions on the veil, shoes and hairdos. Great experience overall!
My mom and fiancés mom and I went to Designer Loft as our first stop during our day of dress shopping. It was such a perfect first stop because we got to look through all of the dresses ourselves and see what is out there! Designer loft carries so many different brands and styles, you can absolutely find something you love there! Jamie, our consultant, was the absolute best. She listened to what I thought I wanted and made beautiful suggestions! There was one dress I loved the most, so I tried it on at the end of the appointment, put on a veil, and she gave me a bouquet. It was in that moment that I started really feeling like a bride! Although I didn’t end up purchasing a dress from the store, I absolutely loved working with Jamie and shopping at Designer Loft. Definitely recommend checking it out for anyone shopping for a dress in NYC!
I cannot say enough amazing things about Designer Loft. I had my heart set on a specific dress for quite some time and went to the flagship store to try it on. I absolutely loved the dress but hated the mesh netting at the neck and armpits and how revealing the dress was in the chest area. The designer refused to perform any alterations on the dress and I thought I was going to have to say goodbye to my dream dress until I met Virginia at Designer Loft. She promised me that Designer Loft's in-house alterations department would be able to remove the mesh netting without ruining the dress and suggested I order extra applique from the train of the dress to sew into the fabric around the chest area. Thanks to Virginia's experience and understanding of exactly what I wanted and Natasha's amazing alterations, I was able to get married in my dream dress (which is also now one of a kind)! I highly recommend Designer Loft to any bride!
