I had an overall poor experience with Amsale as I encountered multiple issues. The worst part was that they forgot a final and critical alteration, which was adding an internal belt to hold the dress up and prevent it from falling down on the chest. My bridesmaids tried to contact them for help and makeshift ideas when we realized (as I was putting it on for my wedding!) but no one answered or called back, despite leaving a voicemail. I also followed up with an email after the wedding and still, no response. They also have poor scheduling practices. Earlier on in the process, they had made a mistake and gave my appointment slot for a fitting to someone else. They were resistant to correcting this error, and even though they did squeeze me in ultimately, they failed to tell me it was going to be with a different seamstress than I had been working with all along (had I known that, I would not have bothered to come in, plus I made it clear to them that my mom and mother-in-law-to-be were coming from out of state for this, which was basically for nothing). When I came in for that appointment, Apri told me they had completed alterations as far as adding the extra boning to the top that I requested. This was untrue. I asked her to look at the dress notes, she skimmed them, and continued to falsely claim the boning had been added. I had to request to speak with someone else on this matter to clear it up. When I picked up my dress a couple days before my wedding, there was nobody at reception to help me and I had to wait 30 minutes for someone to assist. After they got my dress from the back, they gave me a form to sign saying the dress was thoroughly inspected (not true) and in perfect condition (also, again, not true, the belt was not there and my dress was falling off during dancing, which caused me to have to change out of it prematurely, and sacrifice pictures in my dress). It also should be known that their old location was really nice and their new location is tiny and in a very dirty and congested area. I would not recommend going to Amsale for your wedding dress, it's too big of a purchase and too important of a day to take these kinds of risks.
TL;DR I bought an amazing dress and had the best shopping experience. I came to NYC from abroad for two days only. Therefore, I asked the customer service for an appointment as early as possible. They reply instantly, and set up an appointment. Since I needed the dress for the same day, the manager Aprie helped above and beyond to find the model I wanted and called the warehouse, so I can get there and pick up the exact size. She and the entire team were extra nice and I could ask for a better shopping experience.
Beautiful showroom, beautiful dresses, and spectacular customer service. I visited Amsale for bridesmaids measurements, but I didn’t know that I needed an appointment. Luckily, while debating in the lobby the next time I could get back to the city with an appointment, Stylist Terry appeared and took me up to the suite and handed me over to Stylist Shaondel for my measurements. Despite the busyness of the showroom, I was touched by the kindness and consideration of the Amsale team. Thank you!
While I ended up buying my dress somewhere else I had the most incredible experience at Amsale! They are so king, welcoming, and willing to customize your dress so that it is perfect for you. If you are lucky you will get Dia as your stylist! She is incredible!
Spent a wonderful Saturday afternoon here with my maid of honor to help her pick out a gown for my upcoming wedding. The entire team we spoke to leading up to our appointment was incredibly helpful and lovely. We had the pleasure of working with Shaondel during our visit. Shaondel made sure we had excellent dress options and helped my friend find the perfect gown! Thank you so much Amsale team!
