Everything about it was great. Exterior approach had me a little caught off guard by the rather classy appointments on the interior. Very nicely decorated and well maintained. Took a second on entry in the lounge and bar area to take in the surroundings and work my way over to the order counter. -- The Jerk Chicken over rice with collard greens and waffle fries made a very hearty and satisfying lunch, more than I wanted to eat while on the road. If I had eaten it all, I would have had to stop a couple miles up the road for a nap. The Jerk chicken had the flavor that I expect from a good Caribbean jerk with a nice spiciness. It was 8 wing/drumettes over a generous portion of rice. So happy to taste that these were not typical "wings" in a jerk sauce, but actually slow cooked in the jerk sauce so the meat was very tender and easy coming off the bones. The collard greens had a nice seasoning of salt and cooked to a nice tenderness without being mushy or slimy. Stems were not crunchy but still retained a little firmness to the tooth. Loved them and loved the experience as a whole. I did get mine to go, but will probably plan to dine-in next time.
If you are ready for a good home-cooked meal this soul food kitchen is your place for sure!!! Every dish I have tried is delicious! I love the fried fish and those yams and mac & cheese, yummy!! The jerk chicken is a hit too! You can't go wrong with any of the choices here. They have beautiful decor, a bar and even an event space. Perfect place for your next gathering.
The place was beautiful inside with a great ambiance. The servers were nice as well. The food was okay, the cabbage has way too much pepper, but the Mac and cheese was delicious. I’d give this place 3 stars, but wouldn’t return.
I went for oxtail off recommendation but they were out (for obvious reason) so got the jerk chicken over rice, Mac and cheese, and collard greens. Every bit packed with flavor and generous on the portions. Very cool atmosphere and extremely nice staff. Check them out for sure!
The space and decor are amazing! Beautiful spot for a date, family or group gathering. The food is fresh, wait time is appropriate. Good flavor without being overly salty.
