My 9 y/o won’t let anyone touch her hair but Michelle. She loves her and for good reason. She’s so gentle on her tender head and makes her feel so comfortable. She does such a good job on her braids and is in tune with all the latest braiding styles. Book her I promise you won’t regret it.
Quick and always has availability. Hair is included. Quiet atmosphere. Won't be disappointed. She does braid a little tight but just let her know and she'll accommodate the grip. Definitely booking for my next event!
This was an amazing experience. The service was friendly and top notch. I love my hair. I made sure they didn’t grip my edges too hard. They left them alone. Thank God.
First time experience at this studio-salon and I loved it. Just one person attending to my hair needs which is just dryness at times. There was no rushing, attention to my natural hair which is very thick and dry at times. She gave care before extra blow drying. Also put a little twist to my curl at the end of the braiding. Update:Now that this is an actual shop and not a studio, huuuuge difference(3rd time here). You have a bunch of different African women working there and some don’t know how to do proper hair (natural)care. Very rough on natural hair and that’s definitely bad for 4c type. Also didn’t like the fact that I wen there not too long ago and got passion twist. Not sure if they are only suppose to last barely 3 weeks but I paid 160. I wasn’t pleased nor satisfied. But she did include the hair when there was miscommunication of bringing my own (first time getting this style). Owner didn’t seem to really care when I expressed recently through messaging that I felt like my money was waisted. Definitely ignored the statement. Not sure if I’ll go back to get anything other than stitch or cornrows. Maybe on another hunt for a different shop. They do good cornrows and stitch braiding. She’s always willing to squeeze me in; I liked that about her. Also if I needed her to do extra care on my hair or being a little more gentle on braiding/edges.
So, I’m not going to completely discredit this business; however; I did not have a good experience with this establishment. I can tell that this business has regular clients that have a great experience & outcome every time, but that was not my experience which is really disappointing. I read through the reviews and all of them are 4 & 5 stars, which makes it even worse because unless those reviews are fake, I really did not receive the best this business has to offer. Overall my braids were rushed. I had discussed via text message what style I wanted & how many braids. Now, when I sat in the chair I reiterated what we discussed and I did say to the braider how ever many braids she can do to accommodate the style is fine. However, looking back in retrospect, she completely took advantage of me saying that & did what she felt like she would be able to complete before her next client came in. She told me to come in at 8am because she had client at 10am. The client walked through the door at 9am and another client came in at about 9:15-9:20am. So yeah... It was giving I forgot the client was at 9am, not 10am, so let me just do whatever. My real hair started to come out of the braids 3 days after. There wasn’t any tucking. I realized the braids were frizzy when I got home. Pieces of hair were sticking out. During my appointment, I remember the assistant/helper trimming the braids, but clearly it was not enough. Towards the ends of my braids the braiding pattern was all messed up. Pieces crossing over- it looked knots were in the braids. I rebraided the ends myself because it just looked terrible. Now the assistant/helper finished the braids off, so perhaps that’s why they looked like that, but yeah either way it was a mess. Definitely need to train her better. Also, instead of braiding all the way down to the nape, she ( I’m not sure who actually did my hair) pulled the hair at the nape up into the braid- at least an inch up. This has caused so much tension. My scalp & neck ached. The braids just hurt. I really don’t understand why she would do that. They did not dip the braids either! Which I did not realize until I got home. I heard the water getting hot in the kettle, so they probably just forgot… but yeah. The braids were extremely stiff. I didn’t mention anything about the dipping because I was so befuddled about the pricing, which I’ll get to in a moment. She did put me under the dryer though, so “A” for effort I guess. Also, I CANNOT prove this, and it could just be from the tension, BUT I brung my own braiding hair. I am allergic to synthetic braiding hair so I always bring my own. My scalp has broken out like it usually does with synthetic braiding hair. AGAIN, I cannot prove this but it’s my theory that she mixed their braiding hair with mine. I had to use hydrocortisone & aloe on my scalp. The only positive I can say is that I was confused on the pricing and negotiated what I was willing to pay. She did not argue with me & understood why I was confused. I can honestly say that I appreciate not having to really get into it with her about the price. But looking back, I’m glad I did negotiate the price because the overall job was unsatisfactory.
