Wish that this place was closer to Chattanooga than it is. Because I would eat there at least once a week. Customer service was great. Prices are reasonable. Oxtails were succulent. I like the beef patties and cocoa bread. I like how they are open late at night. Next time I go to Durham I will stop by.
Shrimp curry plate comes with yummy pea and bean rice, caramelized plantains and vegetables. It was on special on Thursdays. Tasty and healthy. Jerk wings are fall-off-the-bone, finger lickin’ delicious. Just the right amount of spice. I was very happy to have her cook me dinner!
honestly the food wasn’t that great. came from out of town and apparently this was supposed to be a good jamaican food truck. portions were small, food is over priced and the food was not seasoned well. I would expect more from an “authentic” jamaican spot. I ordered oxtail and I got about 2 1/2. i got a scoop of rice and a pinch of cabbage. jamaican beef patty wasn’t even great. very upset about my experience.
The food is delicious 🤤 but on another level! Chef packs the heat where so many restaurants have chosen not to! I like my cuisine authentic and I am always satisfied.
I can’t say enough great things about Ama’Gees! We love to frequent this food truck; Quality Jamaican food is difficult to come by in Durham and Ama’Gees absolutely delivers. In addition to the classics you may want (like beef Patties and jerk chicken), they also offer plenty of options for vegetarians or vegans. For peanut allergy sufferers they are conscientious about this and everything is safe to eat. The food is always flavorful and everyone who works there is great to interact with. Plus they are very communicative on their socials about where the truck is or if something comes up and they have to close early. Highly recommend you give it a try!
