I went in for chicken wings, the catfish dinner with Mac and cheese and thought I try something new here and ordered the red beans and rice. Once my red beans and rice came people around me looked at my plate and asked what was that and where was the rice. The rice was under all the beans. Once I tasted the red beans and rice the side was very bland. I asked if I can substitute it for another side because the taste was not up to par. The chef stated “Tell her use some salt and pepper to season it” and I had to pay extra for a substitution. I was shocked at the response. Any other establishment would have allowed me to substitute it at no cost. But needless to say this happens often at Black Businesses. Needless to say I will not be returning because I am shocked at the response I received especially after supporting this establishment since it’s been in business.
Went on a Friday. They had a violinist who was awesome. My server was great, but the food took an extremely long time to come out (little over a hour). I believe the kitchen may have been short staffed. The food was good, but portions were small compared to other visits I've had here. Common areas were clean. Women's bathroom was out of Toliet paper. An employee was informed and promptly remedied the issue.
I would give this place 0 stars if I could. We sat at this place for 10 minutes and not one bartender asked us what we wanted. I’m not sure why women bartenders always have such a nasty attitude towards women customers. It’s very strange. I have money and tip well so I never understand what the issues is but I tend to see this a lot in these kind of establishments. We need to do better.
The bar hostess do not work the bar they stay in 1 area in all the black men’s faces. The heavy set blond has a nasty attitude ASHLEY 5 thumbs down….. When the older lady came she was cool. I heard the food was delicious but not to order it’s always a 3 hour wait. First and last time here.
The food here is delicious. It is a quiet little hole in the wall bar that has restaurant quality food. The drinks are mediocre, but the food more than makes up for it. They close pretty early to be a bar to avoid the riff raff (which I appreciate). Even if you don't stay for a drink. A to-go order is worth the trip. I recommend the blackened salmon, mac & cheese, and spinach.
