We had a wonderful lunch at Patty O's Cafe on a late summer day. This was our first visit. The outside drew us into the cafe, the atmosphere was amazing, the furnishings were in the time period of the town, and the food was delicious. The ice tea was served with simple syrup to enable the customer to sweeten the tea to their liking. The bread is baked right on site, with the customer able to purchase additional loaves from the attached bakery. The sour dough was delicious, very much like San Francisco sour dough. The cinnamon bread was delicious, too. We had the pulled pork, which my husband said was sweet and smooth and a generous portion, and the curry chicken salad, which was very good too. The french fries were cooked perfectly, and the seasoning on the fries was very tasty. The bathroom was very clean and smelled good. The tables were a bit close together but that is the only complaint. There is also outside seating in the patio, which many people were taking advantage of.

Want to give it 3. 5 stars. Came here twice. Early evening on a Friday, and brunch on Sunday. Biggest issue is that something is just off with the service, which was very surprising. Both visits it took forever for someone to come to the table and take a drink order. Got to be painfully long. The place is beautiful, even more so compared to *anywhere* in the area. Inside and outside are lovely. No notes. Cocktails were great - overall the best part besides from the design. Dinner menu was solid, nothing we had was particularly special, but solid. Brunch was odd. First, same bad service - took at least 10 minutes to be able to order a drink The live bluegrass is great, maybe sometimes a bit too loud, but loved it overall. The food wasn't great though. They should make clear their French Toast is not standard - I'm assuming it was a brioche, but it came off as bread pudding in terms of texture - but most importantly, just not very good. Literally one vegetarian savory option (avocado bread) and it was very disappointing. Honestly just a vegetarian quiche would have made a huge difference. I'm not even a vegetarian, and normally don't even care, but the genuinely just felt imbalance. Shrimp and grits was perfectly fine. Bacon was the star, in my opinion (but they could drain off some grease from the dish). Was difficult to order a second drink as well, had to flag someone down, then follow up maybe 7 minutes later (it was a mimosa), and as soon as I did the drink was clearly already prepared and just sitting there. I love the Inn, one of my favorite places in the world. I've stayed there many times and will again, I think the main restaurant is world class, I am biased in their favor. I get it is going for a different vibe and the food is always objective, but nobody can have the service I had and think it is up to a reasonable standard given it is connected to the Inn (it was poor by any standard). I took some friends here for brunch thinking it would be quite impressive, but overall it was a disappointing for the entire group. Hopefully it's just growing pains and the next time I go it will have improved. Still find it hard to believe, so I'll give it th4 benefit of the doubt based on my love for the Inn.

If Patty O's were an hour away in the DC area, it would be impossible to get a table. This is a casual restaurant serving dishes designed by a Michelin 3 Star chef, at prices that aren't meaningfully higher than many of the lifeless chain restaurants in the DC suburbs. Lunch and dinner prices are similar, which makes dinner the better value, but both menus are excellent. Nothing on the menu is an afterthought. Every dish, every sandwich, every salad, every dessert, is the chefs interpretation of the superlative version of that dish, whether it's a Greek salad or a corned beef Reuben. And I dare you to find (or make) a better burger Desserts are off the charts. The key lime pie with its hazelnut crust may be the best I've ever had. And it's very rich -- certainly enough for two. I'm not afraid of aggressive seasoning, but it IS a slight issue with some of the dishes. The Champignon Bourguinon, the French onion soup, and the pommes frites have all been a wee bit heavy on the salt. And the excellent Greek salad was a little overdressed. Nitpicks aside, Patty O's is a gem.

We went to Patty O’s for lunch and then dinner the next day! For lunch we ordered the Tuna Tartare for starter and half pound beef burger . They were both outstanding . The next day we ordered the Fried chicken basket which came with cornbread, potato salad and biscuit. It was delicious! The service is outstanding which is is very rare these days! I highly recommend this restaurant.

We were visiting the area and had heard much praise for this establishment, but the Sunday brunch experience was a mixed bag. First the good part: My eggs Benedict were among the best I've ever had. The bakery is superb. The live music was wonderful. The middle-aged Italian waiter was very professional. All those would deserve 5 stars. However...we had brunch reservations for two, and we were among the first in line at 10 AM. Once we got to the receptionist, they looked us up on the list and told us that inside seating is for "brunch customers only." My wife tried to tell the young lady that we indeed had reservations, and that's why our name was on the list, to no avail. We then were seated outside and it was a very sunny, hot day. Outside, there were many empty tables with 4 seats with umbrellas for shade (and they stayed empty even when we left). Yet, the young lady stated that two people can only sit on the tables for two. So the entire time we were sitting in the direct, hot, bright sun. Shortly after, the same young lady, who would not give us the table, in fact seated three other couples on the seats for four with shady umbrellas. That made us feel rather displeased. My wife had ordered shrimp and grits. There were only 4 shrimp and my wife did not eat them because they had a strong fishy smell, plus one of them had not been peeled and it had parts of the shell on it. She ate the grits but had to ditch the shrimp. If it had not been for these issues, it would have been a 5 star rating. In a fine dining establishment, these things should not happen.
