They really are incompetent. My child's social worker spoke to my child's court attorney during our divorce case to determine if her right to privacy could be waived in court, so the judge could know what was going. The SW knew and agreed with the importance of this, but gets on the phone with the court attorney, which I had to pay $$kk's of dollars for , and completely allowed herself to be bullied and railroaded...and then when I was like what happened??? The attorney is not allowing my child's priveledge to be waived in court, the SW acted like she didn't know the purpose of her conversation with the attorney. The SW offered to call the attorney back, but you can't do that...once the decision is made and presented to the court, that's It ...duh. This organization has cost me so much money, how are you in this field and not understand the legal proceedings that could go along with it? They have refused to put things in writing. The SW did virtual sessions with my child, but before the scheduled time, she would text my child asking if she wants to meet. She was met with a No response everytime. Why are you asking the child this, when I have specifically told you to call/facetime at the scheduled session time. Why are you giving the child an out? Even after I told you otherwise. Then.....the sessions just stopped, never heard from the SW about discharge... nothing, just stopped. 3 mos later, I decided to call the office to ask what happened...I get a VM from the SW asking if my child needed to begin therapy.... Begin? What happened to the end? Stay away from this place

It's rather disheartening when Black owned organizations don't actually support and uplift Black people. This organization uses Blackness as a guise for clout. There is an extreme level of unprofessionalism as well hostility when people genuinely need help. I tried to call AWL and I did not get an answer the first time. Then, I learned they are limited in the insurance they actually take. There is a very limited number of providers to help clients. In addition, the building is not aesthetically pleasing. It is an eyesore to the community. I hope that an organization that is supposed to take Black people's mental seriously improves its services and atmosphere.

Called to make an appointment, they took my insurance info and said someone would call me that day or the next. three days later I call them back and the woman on the phone is hostile from the start and when i ask to speak to someone else she says hold on and hangs up on me. i called back several times and got voicemail. Eventually someone else answered the phone asked me for my insurance info and then told me they are currently not accepting my insurance. they could have told me that three days ago. This is a mental health facility and they basically trolled the hell out of me. I strongly suggest that you avoid this place at all costs.
