Absolutely amazing!!! The food, the service, and the atmosphere are all amazing. We had the Friday specials, chicken and dumplings, and the salmon croquettes with collard green, seasoned spinach, buttered corn, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, cornbread and the green beans . By far, the absolute best down-home southern scratch cooking I have had in a VERY long time!!! My wife and I will be back again and again!!!!!
We have been talking about eating at Florence’s for years but the timing never works out right for a weekday. But now that we have been once we will make sure to make the time again! The fried chicken was perfectly cooked and not too salty. We also had the smothered pork chops and didn’t realize they would also be breaded and fried but it was a good surprise! The grilled tilapia had a hint of warm baking spice, maybe all spice, and it was also excellent. Make sure to try to collard greens if they are in season as well as the fantastic Mac and cheese. We didn’t have much room left but couldn’t pass up the banana pudding which was a great finish to an excellent meal!
We loved it. First time ever eating here, we will definitely be back. The food was just what you expect. The waiter was very attentive, nice and helpful. We had the hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, Mac & Cheees, and buttered corn. Cooked perfectly, now that gravy, it would be great on anything. We also had the fried chicken, Mac & Cheese, collard greens and mashed potatoes. Chicken was cooked perfectly, not greasy. It was light batter and crispy. I will be back to try the chicken & dumplins, and chicken & dressing.
Gracious. I don’t know if y’all are eating with James Beard goggles on or something but I don’t get it. $18 for two wings and a tiny thigh. Come on now. I will say it was cooked perfectly. However, eating under (not) seasoned food isn’t great, no matter how well it is cooked. The flour was raw in the gravy. Our server spent as little time as possible at our table. Literally walked away before my son could say what he wanted to drink. The cornbread and green beans were okay. The mac was very industrial- overcooked pasta and never seen a cow before “cheese” glopped on. The rice inexplicably had gravy on it. Waited all but 30 minutes for our food. But counted myself lucky because the table next to us had to have been waiting close to an hour based on the fact that they had to go to the bar to ask why 4 (four) tables who came in after they ordered had their already. Also, one half of the restaurant didn’t have air conditioning. In Oklahoma. In July.
Really tasty food and you receive your food fairly quick compared to other soul food places. Yammed fried chicken is a must to try and they give 3 vegetable sides. Which is rare when comparing soul food places. All for a reasonable price of around $20. Only knock I have is it was kinda warm and I'm not sure if their ac was broken or what. Just being a small hand held fan and you'll be ok. Servers were also nice a knowledgeable. Will definitely return again
